Fire the coach, see if JT is willing to move, tweak around the edges, play out the next season, evaluate from there.

so just looking at the player end, just some tweaks. Their dpeth the last few years on paper has been good. The only area they really havent tried to get a clear-cut upgrade is in goal. Visions of Clarke when he was flyers GM

I have said wonder if JT would go back to the isles in a trade?

He has 50 points in 57 playoff games. Yet some say he doesn't play well in the playoffs. I get the expectations of a star players but the issue with the Leafs is not Marner. If they think it is, then they're fools.
- MJL

he is clearly part of failing playoff teams. Or does he get a pass every year?

Scott Laughton seems like a perfect fit for the Leafs.

As usual, you take things the wrong way. Yeah, I don't watch the game...I just listen to it. What does that even mean? The way you defend Frost makes me think that he's your little brother or something. Again, I think I've watched and played enough hockey to know what I'm looking at. I guess you and I have a different definition of mean streak. I'm not asking for Sanheim to fight or rip someones head off every game. I just think he gets pushed off the puck too much for someone his size. He even knows that as apparently he did bulk up last summer. Hopefully he will do it again this summer! Look at the best defenses in today's game when things get serious. Big defenses with long reaches and physicality. That will never change.

I think it's clear from your comments that you don't have a clue of what you're looking at. I objectively look at Frost using the facts and I don't have a bias. A mean streak is a pretty simple term. I disagree that Sanheim gets pushed off the puck too much. Does York or Drysdale have a mean streak? Do you know what will actually never change? That while you certainly need to be able to defend and play in the physical side of the game. The best defenseman in the league are the skilled guys who can skate, move the puck and score. The issue with the Flyers is that they play players like Sanheim and York for that matter in roles they're not suited for. Neither is a top pair NHL defenseman on their own merits.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Utah deals the 6th pick for immediate help. They are probably gonna go all out to make the playoffs next year.

I read somewhere that the owner has already made if clear to the front office that they need to bring in veterans and start competing immediately.

Those points are misleading. He doesn’t elevate his game during the playoffs like a Crosby or a Tkachuk. He is part of the problem. Knies was more impactful than Marner. He lacks the ability to excel on the big stage.

Tweaking and firing the coach is just more excuses. The team is not balanced well. I don’t see them ever getting by the 2nd round with this core. It’s probably unfair laying the blame at Marner’s feet. He’s just not the guy.

Low salary. Has grit. Marner doesn't have that so he has to be a great fit?

Why wouldn't he be?

Points are never misleading. Crosby is a generational player. Is that a fair comparison? I think the issue is the team around Marner. Not Marner. If you think you can make the team better by trading an elite NHL forward, good luck. The most likely outcome is that you lose that trade. I think the issue with the Leafs is their defense is not good enough. Their PK wasn't good. They need another high level puck mover. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

I see Laughton as more of a “poor man’s Tavares” if we are making comparisons.

Did you watch the series? He played well. The whole team had trouble solving Swayman.
- Tomahawk

I watched the series. I live in sw ontario, and its all leafs here. I dont think he played to his contract. He should be a difference maker and isnt. We know you are big on the leafs and defend them. But can you say he was a difference maker? Define played well......well for a superstar? or compared to frost?

Hossa, Matt Boldy, Noah Dobson, Necas, McDonagh, Gary Roberts, Tanguay were 12th-overall picks.

Hopefully the Flyers end up with one of those instead of a Marc Staal or Hugh Jessiman.

They won't be trading this pick.

- Tomahawk

believe there is also better athletes through and through now, just more talent overall.

Do you play out next season and then maybe let him walk? They could potentially have 22mil coming off the books

they have added guys with grit and you have seen the results. guys with a better track record than Laughton.

there is something there on that that just doesn't work. they need to figure it out fast.
