Tree Living and Shanahan
They both say the same thing, we are responsible, buck stops with us.
First move the team makes, keep those 2, fire the coach #accountability - Symba007
Why should Treliving get poopcanned? Dude has literally been here one full season. He fired the coach that he wasn't responsible for hiring - which is a bullet every new GM gets to fire once.
Shanahan? Yeah, not sure how he's still got a job. |

Old dudes with important jobs are always available at important times. If you mean that on a random Tuesday night in January Shanny might have put his phone down while bangin' his wife ..ya sure, but that' got nothing to do with anything. |

Hot take: if he won't waive the NMC I'd let him walk at the end of the season.
I'm not too concerned about Toronto being able to lure a replacement in free agency if need be. |

curious to see how this unfolds but I have a feeling they (Shanny)will STRONGLY consider a contract extension for Marner.
change will come once Taraves is gone...I am not expecting much until then, Marner, Nylander and Mathews will be the core going long terms
Why spend 40M on the core 4 when you can do it on the core 3 |

Agree 100% let him walk away and gain back the cap $ / flexibility and hopefully he can take his #1 fan Lazer along with him.

I'll agree with AA here. I haven't been a blind follower of this team. I've been advocating change here for years. I won't pay money for this product. It's not a winning product. Where AA and I probably disagree is that I think his son needs to be moved. |

I think the words I've heard make it clear that they'd like to go that route ....will obviously depend on what they can do.
got to think today ..they can't say too much about the need for change b/c it'd undermine their leverage in trade talks.
But I think they're making it clear enough they'd like to make some significant personnel changes. |

Because ownership is incompetent.
They know nothing about hockey. That’s why Shanny got the job, because they assumed he knew a lot about today’s game.
All MLSE cares about is continuing to dupe new waves of innocent naive Canadians, Ontarians mostly, to come suck at the teet of Toronto sports teams. There’s no winning history anymore, the Leafs 11 (or 13) cups mean nothing now. The raptors win was a total fluke, and they never deserved to win one. But they’ll keep milking that as long as there’s gullible people (such as yourselves)who keep believing.
There’s zero integrity in what they’re doing anymore. Keep paying $300 for nosebleeds, keep buying poop ass Fanatics jerseys, pay $40 for a pint of piss. You’ll keep doing it because you think it makes you part of something. You get to go tell your friends you experienced something awesome, post that poop on IG. Chant GO LEAFS GO in Unions station after a regular season win.
Keep believing. Keep being a sucker. |

If they trade him and become better for it then I’ll come around.
But that’s unlikely imo.

Yeah it is pretty clear to me, they said as much as they could on that topic.
There is no chance they run it back in my opinion, they figure out how to trade Marner.

Not sure if Woll played every game in this series he would have played at the same level he was at in games 5 and 6 nor that the Leafs would have done enough (read scored enough) to have won the series but we will never know.
What we do know is many will be happy when Samsonov is not back and someone else is the soup du jour (Soupy joke fully intended) between the pipes in Toronto who will be anointed the saviour of this franchise and then the cause of their failure and all that is wrong with them - perhaps multiple times in the same season.
This is the way.
I mean as an example as great as Bob has been in 2 consecutive playoffs now imagine if the Leafs had signed him to that 7 year x 10M per year contract back in 2018 that kicked in 2019-2020?
His stats were pretty average at best for the first few of those years and I find it hard not to believe he would not have been run out of Toronto well before his big playoff breakthrough last year.
- Cush29
That video that jribout shared from Kyper & Bourne, featuring analysis by Steve Valiquette ( https://youtu.be/UXKEzI8bs8A) was pretty good and really noted how poorly Sammy tracked the puck vs. Woll, and further noted that Woll received mostly hard starts after returning from his ankle sprain while Sammy was given mostly the soft starts - which didn't really put Woll in a position to succeed. I'm not going to lie - that's just (frank)ing dumb. Sammy let us down in the playoffs last year and then carried that bad play into this season and we want to build up his confidence so he can let us down in this year's playoffs again!
With regards to Bob, I think the amount of that contract would have made almost anyone think twice. He hasn't looked great these playoffs either - so he's had maybe one good season, one great playoff run in 5 years so far. That's a lot of patience - but signing a guy to an unmovable contract will give you that sort of patience.
