And IIRC, it was a "screw the Leafs" deal - some other team did the exact same thing and weren't required to provide compensation.

They overachieved this year - thought they would be a bubble team at best. They concentrated more on D this year, which somewhat offset the loss of players.

But last year Bergeron was their most important player and Krecji has always had a history of good playoff performances.

As I said not exactly the same as Leafs this year, but losing those 2 just before post season started hurt.
