Anyone think they will move Shanahan to another position (ie. fluffy advisor role) tomorrow?

Face saving way to Shanacan him.

For example, Special Advisor to the Zamboni driver.

Yay a guy has been unable to last more than 3 seasons on a team in 4 attempts!

Berube had one good run, Gallant has been better over his career.

I heard he is one of those up and coming coaches. Great winning pedigree.
- Glak18

He does have a great winning pedigree... In the regular season

Ottawa can't be picky though, even making the playoffs would be impressive

I don't want a coach that never lasts where he goes.

Tells me he gets stale very fast with players.

No thank you.

I think that looking back, signing Tavares was a mistake, but there isn't a single guy here who hated it at the time of the signing.
- Atomic Wedgie

He did this so therefore...

Most importantly, he stopped MLSE from continuously sacrificing long-term progress with short-term, reactive moves - something this franking team has been doing for 60 years.

...this is exactly what he did.

Tavares was the sacrificing of long term progress with a short-term, reactive move which had cascading negative consequences.

Not to mention all the 1st round picks they started throwing away for "veterans" who did nothing and cost the Leafs the ability to continue to keep 1st round picks and develop depth players.

The process they followed to acquire elite talent was correct but almost everything they did after that was a total failure. They wasted the first 5 years of "tank and draft high" with the decisions they made over the next 5 years. Ultimately, it's 10 years of failure under Shanahan.

I actually like what Shanahan has done over the years.

He purposely tanked the team - something nobody in Toronto had the guts to do for 50 years.

He held onto draft picks, which turned into the most talent this team has seen in years.

And he acquired top end talent. I think that looking back, signing Tavares was a mistake, but there isn't a single guy here who hated it at the time of the signing.

Most importantly, he stopped MLSE from continuously sacrificing long-term progress with short-term, reactive moves - something this franking team has been doing for 60 years.

We didn't get the results we wanted.

But I still like the process we followed.

- Atomic Wedgie

Is this sarcasm?

Uh, over the years they have given up a boatload of picks.
What top-end talent, aside from Tavares. Other than that, they got aging vets at the deadline for futures... and the deadline pickups accomplished nothing.

They abandoned the plan the moment they opened the vault for Tavares.

My gawd.
You never had a spat with a teammate you're close with during a pressure game?
Jesus, quit reading into a little tiff.

Not sure why people had such a reaction to the cameras catching some frustration between some players.

But he isn't though.

Deserves a 2nd chance.

And there is absolutely no doubt he is the best qualified person to do the job.

Former Leafs player, from the area and a 3 time Cup champion.

If they had no reaction, they'd have no passion, no fight, no drive.

If they have a reaction, they're weak, whining, frustrated.

There is no appeasing the mob of idiots.

He did something really horrible. He has made a lot of money coaching and he is not in need of work.

No sense giving him a 2nd chance, let him be a better person in every day life...His time in the NHL is forever gone and for good reason. He (frank)ed up.

Wild looking to move Gustafson and Rossi.

They have one more year of 14M tied up into praise and Suter.

Once Marners SB is given I wonder if it’s possible for a team like Chicago to retain half his cap hit.

Minny could afford him this year and then sign him to whatever he wants.

It’s just a game, give him a 2nd chance in real life absolutely.

But a 2nd chance doesn’t mean give him millions of dollars to work for a high end organization in the NHL.

His time is up in the NHL, it’s really that simple.

Rick Tocchet shouldn't be in the NHL, right?

But he is.

2nd chances.

He either knew about his video coach raping young men and actively encouraged people to cover it up to facilitate a playoff run- which is utterly despicable -

or…

He ignored it for said purposes of hockey which is even worse -

Either way he’s finished as a coach in hockey at any and all levels - totally radioactive -

Hope it was worth it Q - You complete scumbag.

Because it’s Toronto. We’ve seen it numerous times in Pittsburg but it’s good when they do it. Or if MacKinnon does it it’s great leadership.

I hate the Toronto media.

Ever look up what Craig MacTavish did. Given a 2nd chance. Then a career as a coach, executive, TV analyst. Seems worse than Q...
