My passions/hobbies are guitar, gardening, golf, canoe tripping with family, and running/working out.

I've been a Leaf fan since the late 70s. My idea of being a sports fan is informed by also being Liverpool FC supporter. LFC fans simply do not accept the poop that's gone on with this Leaf team. Neither do Yankee fans, Real Madrid, etc. A segment of theeafs fanbase has accepted and embraced losing. I can and will not do that. If you don't like my opinions, don't read them.

Side note, if you don't like people's opinions differing with yours you can just not read them. Instead you resort to name calling. Kind of hypocritical of you to tell others to not read them when you yourself wont.

How much does Zadorov cost?

4.5M?

- Santo_44

Plus a 3rd and a 5th but Leafs missed that boat again.

As a UFA he'll be over $5m maybe $6m.

Would've been easier to acquire him and then extend him cheaper before this playoff run. And the way he has been in the Vancouver press, loves it there/family/fans, doubt they let him walk.

Too bad Treliving didn't listen to me and a few other guys on here in January.

But why make yourself miserable? So you can be right 50% of the time on the internet? Sounds like a lot of misery for literal HOURS upon HOURS a year for a few fleeting moments of "got em".
- Aaron_85

I'm here a lot less than a lot of you guys, to be fair. I guess my opinions "stick out" when I'm here.

He's not making himself miserable, the same as I'm not when it comes to the Leafs....the management and team are doing that for us.

The obviously dumb poop this team does and continually tries to keep doing in the face of ZERO success is mind blowing at times, add the fans posts in here supporting those same dumb moves

I don't know 5 or 6M is kind of crazy.

Like yes he has value but he won't get paid that much with the mins he plays.

I really don't think Zadorov gives a (frank) where he plays, he will follow the money and opportunity to win.

VAN likely can't afford him they have so many UFA and RFAs.

He 100% knows Tre will back up the money truck for him.

Hope both of those statements are true, just not too much $ in the truck. Can't forget the Leafs will probably run back the Core 4 yet again.

Leafs have space.

Plus I think Marner is so gone, I don't think there is much of a chance he is back and until that gets proved wrong I will operate on the fact he won't be here next season.

- Santo_44

I agree. There have been multiple observers, including Ray Ferraro, who said that Marner basically looked miserable all season. I think he might have had enough and not want to face what's coming next season if he doesn't agree to a move.

The stars have aligned.

Marner is likely going to have success somewhere else, probably playoff success too.

But it is irrelevant to the Leafs. He can't handle it here and he dug himself a hole mentally.

The 2018-2019 playoff Marner where he blocked that shot from the Bruins is gone, and likely gets revived by another city.

Considering the playoffs he's having, someone will pay a lot more.

I'd like it better than adding a Sammy, Stolarz, below average goalie, below average goalie.

I get the wanting to go cheap route, its been my philosophy the past 5 years but I think I was wrong. Expecting to catch lightning in a bottle with a meh goalie is unlikely and we have run out of time here.

Get a GOOD goalie to pair with Woll. A legit one.

I'd like to know the highest a D has been played an average of 17-18 mins the last 3 seasons.

Don't think he will get paid like Pesce, Montour, Skiej...I think that would be a bit ridiculous.

I'd say low end is 4.5M (Manson, Chariot, Graves ...)
and high end is 5.75 (Gavrikov, Forsling). I don't think any team goes to $6 with him but crazier things have happened.

..or he could find another Holland and do whatever Nurse did to get almost twice what he's worth.

His next suspension is a year, not taking that risk.

Does the team get cap relief if he’s suspended? Just curious.

Yes.

But if he is back in November you have to go into the season with the space available.

I think he gets bought out.

Then teams will spend the amount they are comfortable with.

All the guys you mention do play 20 - 22 minutes / game. Zadorov played 16 - 18 on average over the past 3 years. The highest paid guy I can think of with those parameters is Zaitsev @ $4.5m and that contract was a massive mistake. Noting that when Zaitsev was given his deal he was playing 22 minutes.

For the most part Zadorov is deployed similarly to Schenn, and while Schenn is older, the deployment of him hasn't exceed 18 minutes of TOI on average since 2017 (18:03).
