Paulie, I noticed that the polite Canadians are again sharing the wildfire smoke with the US. Very kind.... - mohel

Man, I hate the smoke. I have asthma and it can be brutal. I'm hoping for lots of rain and low wind to help get some of the fires under control. |

If it doesnt matter what we think then why even discusx the draft? Of course they will make the pick, you can still have an opinion. - LFS
You seem to not like the BPA route. The point of my post was to emphasize that the Hawks may have very different criteria regarding BPA than what we are discussing. I’m all for discussion and opinions. |

Then we agree. My point was that of course the hawks will decide and not us. As for bpa, it also is a crapshoot. I just think at this point you take a scoring forward as scoring was our weakest point. Lets hope whoever we take will be a difference maker… it better be with the #2 pick. |

Not sure the Strome comparison is a good one. Not only was Strome an average skater, he was also an average competitor and plays with no physicality. But I get what you’re saying. Lindstrom seemingly came from nowhere with a very strong start of this season then got injured. What is his ceiling? But because he brings a decent defensive game, a very physical game, he’s shown to be highly competitive and he’s also got a scoring element to his game i think he’s a legitimate top five talent. - paulr
Rantanen maybe? No idea about hockey sense but a guy whose 6'4 215 skates really good, has a nice shot, defends well, passes pretty good, seems like a solid ceiling for someone with a similar toolset. Maybe the lesser thechuck?
I dunno who a mid level comparison would be. Seems like most guys who are big like that end up being good top 6 players or side shows.
Lindstrom is truly one of those picks that makes a GM's career or gets them fired. |

I think I've moved over to the Levshunov camp. Nothing against Demidov, I'd be happy if the Hawks selected him at #2. But I think the talent cap between the 2 (factoring in the different positions) is minimal but the impact a true #1 d-man who can play in all situations is invaluable. - DarthKane
I think you're right on. Levshunov looks to have the makings of being a #1 D-Man. And if we have an over-abundance of good D-Men down the road, well there's always the possibility of making a trade. Let's hope and pray KD's people make the right choice! |

So at this time last year, we knew exactly who the Hawks were taking with their first pick. This year, nobody here is sure what KD will do. I’m thinking NHL draft day will be must watch tv. I’m still going with the safe pick, Levshunov. You can go for high ceiling with, say the 8th pick in the first round, with the second pick in the draft, you better get yourself a NHL ten year player. |

Yeah, I'd like to see them take Leyshunov with #2 and then package #20 with one of their prospects for a young player under 24 that can contribute to the team right away. |
