The series ain’t over man. - Slimtj100
Tell me you were okay with how they played last night.
Of course Carolina needed to win and played hard and did so while the Rangers didn't. They could have put the series away. Jacob freakin Trouba scored the only Rangers goal, short handed no less! They spent way more time in our zone than we did in theirs. Hard to score when being outplayed, outshot and outworked.
My prediction was Rangers in 6. That still stands.
I have confidence that they learned from last season's brutal loss to the (frank)ing Devils.
Better show up on Thursday. |

Not well after Brent Burns cross check to the back - airjan23
Fair. I think Burns sees himself staring down the barrel of finishing his career without a cup and has decided he's going to do anything it takes to win one.
But just in the past couple games though because he's been pretty bad leading up to this. |

You can't blame people (Myself included) for thinking this way. For the past 3 years when this current group of players has faced any type of real adversity: the 3rd period of last night is what you get.
3 years of that. We all gave them game 5. They put the effort, were sloppy but made a game out of it. Last night after they score, the entire team either played scared or they quit. - blacksheep1
Longer for Kreider. We (and the players) can praise or blame coaching all we want to help soothe ourselves, but if this team can't get it done this year with the year they've had and the coaching/experience we have, it's not looking good. |

No i was just as mad as everyone else lol I’m just not giving up yet. Playoffs are never easy and here we are, the uneasy part
To me one of the biggest issues they have is when the PP struggles it seems to deflate the whole team, energy, will, etc.
I saw enough from Chytil to tell me if he plays we have that extra scoring (player) we need but he’s got to play for that to happen. They REALLY need him to play game 6. |

To me, it's just the simple fact that we ALL know, even those of us who will never play a game of hockey at any significant level, that you are in trouble if you try to hold a lead instead of continuing to play the game that got you that lead.
How can they forget this and play the way they did for the last 30 minutes of that game?????
Against a mediocre team that game plan would have brought trouble. Against an elite team like Carolina, it's almost an admission of not wanting to win. Unfathomable and unacceptable. I hope they've learned the lesson and Thursday bring a full effort - win or lose.
Worst part is, I will be pack in a ballpark on Thursday night!!! |

Canes have made some significant adjustments and now it's up to the Rangers to counter.
Kotkaniemi-Kuznetsov-Noesen didn't take a single defensive faceoff all game and played significantly more minutes than they were playing previously.
Orlov-Chatfield played about the same minutes as Slavin-Burns, which I think helped Burns stay better for longer.
They also managed to avoid having Skjei/DeAngelo out there with the Canes top line, which helped the depth lines create more offense. |

Its just not Panarin, Mika, CK20, Trouba, Lingren, (frank)ing Fox has been brutal.
Edit
Throw in the third and forth lines cause they havent produced poop!! |

My God the pessimism in here is crazy. Rough game but we were on cloud 9 three days ago with 7 straight wins to start the playoffs and two losses later and we're talking about blowing up the team and rebuilding? Firing Lavy? Unbelievable |

Tbh I don’t think the adjustments were the reason the rangers lost. The rangers lost bc the canes are just competing harder and dictating their play style. Been doing that all series but now the rangers are having breakdowns. Even that staal goal yes it was nice but was a way worse defensive play. Not taking things away from Carolina I just think they are finally getting their due from hard work. Not adjustments

Fox has gotta be hurt, right? Like he's a pale imitation of his former self. As Jan pointed out the Canes are attacking him specifically. |

Oh I don't think it's necessarily the adjustments either, but they've helped. Strategically they aren't changing anything about the way they play, just changing how much certain guys are playing and it's helped significantly.
Like, Orlov and Slavin played almost exactly the same number of minutes. |

Yes. This would all stem from the blatant attempt to injure that Aho never faced any repercussions from back in January. How a guy can skate right at and through a guy on the blue line, while the puck is in the corner and not be called for any penalty, nor have the league review it, while the victim misses significant time is beyond me.
Aho should have gotten (frank)ing pasted to the boards in this series. |

Defensemen minutes are vital to playoff teams. You really need them all to be 18-22 minutes. Dallas is somehow making do with essentially 5 guys, which is nuts. Lundkvist is barely playing |
