Brinds system just isnt made for playoff hockey. You cant just grind your way through 16 wins and you have to get goaltending. Even with Guentzel, who played great, they got no further - hfc355
I think the Rangers are the better team, but the biggest difference was in net. No comparison.

Canes roster is going to be drastically different. They have like 12 plus UFAs. RFAs - hfc355
All.the more reason to add a goal scoring winger like Harkins for cheap to fill out the roster. Just need to use him better than Sullivan did, but the offensive upside is clear to anyone who knows what to look for. |

I think everyone wanted Miller. You were probably the only one speaking up a lot about wanting Boeser...then there's Sam Bennett....when he was being used as bottom 6 in Calgary, and not doing all that much, you and I were the only ones that wanted to try to obtain him...and at that point in time it was probably possible. Sigh. - MattStrat
And then was also on the front line of wanting Nichushkin when he flunked out in Dallas. (frank) it, they should hire the fans |

Playing 57 games in a season and not recording a goal or a single penalty was impressive |

Buying low doesn’t always work but when it does it looks genius. I remember when that Sam Bennett trade happened most people thought it was an overpay. It would have ruled to get Sam Bennett for two seconds in hind sight |

My high school coaching resume is impressive. Transformed the PP one season and it got us into the playoffs. Unfortunately construction work is the absolute worst job to have when trying to be involved with coaching anything. The higher I climbed, the less I could (frank) off at 230 to be at the rink. |

They updated capfreindly for next season and it shows the penguins have roughly 12.9 mil next season to spend. If the penguins move malkin, rackell, rust, smith that would free up roughly another 21.6 mil. Hopefully they move on from the dead cap space filler in EK"s diplorable signing that would be 31.6 mil. Throw in graves 4.5 mil..Wow there looking at around 35 million for younger players and hopefully add any kind of physical players that would help out crosby not hinder him. And a bonus would be.. fire sullivan and his henchman. The last 2 on this list would be a major change...with sullivan fired and physical players.
I also see the florida panthers have 19.7 mil for next season in cap space. Strange how they have more cap space than the penguins and there in the playoffs? Blame hextall i guess for this? I don't think so, I'd start with GM sullivan (joke) first and then dubas for keeping everything the same after years of failure to make it to the playoffs. That bottom 6 is putrid along with that 10 mil with EK..That helped alot this year with PP? Last in the league..
But as other penguin fans have said on here "let them ride off into the sunset and be happy for the cups they have won". That would be considered more excuses used for a few more years of playoff failures it would seem to me. |

This is just fantasy. There is no way the Pens can move all those guys without taking money back even if they wanted to. Not to mention most of those guys have trade clauses in their contracts.
And in an imaginary world where they could make those trades, how in the world are you filling out a roster with better value players in UFA? It isn't full of much younger players or known for it's value contracts.
And less space then the Panthers? Please. Almost half their roster are free agents. They will lose several players, they don't have money to be add to their current roster.
Meanwhile, better or worse, the Pens could field a full roster just adding Poulin and Puustinen and signing Blomquist, POJ and St. Ivany, all cheap moves, and have the rest to use to add.
I agree with moving Smith. I think most people do and with only one year left it's very possible. The rest, good luck with that. I'm sure they wouldn't mind trading Graves and Rackell, but why would anyone want them? Malkin, Rust, and EK aren't going anywhere unless they want to. You saw with how little we traded for EK after a 100 point season so even if he wanted to move, people aren't lining up for him.
Malkin and Rust, if you get around their clauses, maybe have value, but they actually produced in line with their salaries and you lose them you aren't getting better values in UFA. Basically you can't trade everyone but Crosby, Bunting, Letang, and Petterson and hope to rebuild the team. It's not like all the best UFAs will come here.
I dare you to try and answer any facts, but you'll likely just disappear for a couple weeks again because you don't have any answers, then come back with the same fantasy ideas. Come up with actual moves that can be made and we can have a discussion about most of this. I probably still don't trade Malkin and Rust, but could do the rest of there are actual realistic trade scenarios. |
