I hear you on this. I'm a big Seeler fan but did not like the signing. He played above expectations this season before the injury, but he's a 5/6 guy on a good team. I hope I'm wrong but I have a bad feeling we will not benefit from the new contract. - Don Nachbaur
Yeah, I think Seeler benefited from playing alongside Walker. He’s debatably a 5/6 on the Flyers right now who are not a good team. |

If the team was rebuilding, as they should be, and you know they will be bad for 3/4 more years. It’s not horrible. But the fact that they are trying to to win, and make that signing. No hope for this organization. - ClaudeFather
If they’re rebuilding I’d rather have a 4th or 5th rd pick for him. That pick probably doesn’t become anything but I’d rather have that then pay a 7th defenseman $2.7m for the next 4 years. If you want a veteran to pair with a rookie on the 3rd pair you can go find one of those guys for the league minimum every summer. |

I won’t be surprised if they sign Stamkos or Sam Reinhart. They’ve got a decent amount of cap space and could move Ullmark to get another $5m in space. - Schmojo
I know he takes faceoffs but Reinhart looks like he’s playing wing with Barkov.

Yes, I'm always torn bc I know they need to rebuild but the selfish part of me wants to see them in the playoffs. The org will always want to sell tickets and people keep going, so they won't change their mentality to try to keep the team competitive during the rebuild. There's no way the Flyers will ever tank, so I'm willing to give DB a chance to see what his strategy is. - Don Nachbaur
I’m on team tank but I get it. I don’t like seeing them lose either. And I want to see them in the playoffs too. But look at WSH or NYI this year or when the Flyers made the playoffs during the Hextall years, that’s embarrassing. Since the 04-05 lockout the strategy that works is tanking, that’s Gary Bettman’s NHL. I want the Flyers to build a core like CHI, PIT, TB, or COL. The former 3 each had an 8+yr window as true contenders, and winning 8 cups between them.
The perfect teams to look at right now are CHI & PIT. One recognized their window was over and tore it down and is on their way to stockpiling a great prospect pool and has the next generational talent. PIT is continuing to try to make Crosby/Malkin/Letang a thing which isn’t going to happen again, they have one of the worst prospect pools in the league, and no 1st rd pick this year. I’d much rather be the Hawks right now who at least have something to look forward to while PIT is in denial that they’re done. |

Yes, but beyond Stamkos there’s not much else. With how deep and good Boston has been defensively Reinhart doesn’t need to be a shutdown center for them he’s more for the offense. Beyond those 2 they’d have to make a trade. I’m not sure how Couture’s health is but he’d be available for sure. |

Yeah, there is not much out there. I spend a lot of time in the Bay Area so I’ve seen a lot of Couture. It’s not clear how much he has in the tank or if he’ll be t healthy again.
IIRC Necas played center most of last year so he could be an option as well.
Edit: Couture has a brutal contract. |

Hurts to say but that is a very apt comparison between the two. However the hawks players dead in the water. Where is toews? Where is Keith? Very different from Crosby and Malkin.
Chicago also lucked out with bedard lotto year. Zero sour grapes because the same can infinitely be said of the pens, but the concept of just oh time to rebuild doesn’t always work out so swimmingly.
That being said I do get your point. Pens are holding onto life support while Chicago’s cupboard is (frank)ing stacked. |

Necas could be an option. Unfortunately SJ has used up their 3 retention slots. They’d have to bring in a 3rd team to retain and that’s going to be tough for 3 years. So yeah that’s probably not an option then. |

Crosby is still a good player. Imagine what they could still get in return for him. Moving on from those guys a couple seasons ago would have put them in a better position than the Hawks are. They’d have gotten a kings ransom for those 2 guys.
Yes, Chicago lucked out winning the lottery but it helps giving yourself better odds. Of course there’s no guarantee a rebuild will work, but every team since PIT won in ‘09, except Vegas, had a period where they finished in the bottom of the standings and acquired an elite player who was a key factor in their cup win. Not every team’s rebuild has worked but it’s the only way to win. It hasn’t worked any other way.
Heck, look at Boston. All the good teams they’ve had over the years and the only time they won the cup was when they had Seguin, a #2 overall pick, who they acquired by trading Phil Kessel who they got at 5th overall during a rebuild, started by trading Joe Thornton. |

Dallas is a damn fine team |

McAvoy was dominant in game 5 and carried the team to victory. The winning goal tonight knocking the Bruins out was a leaky goal that should've been saved. Bruins need to find a way to get a 1C. Can't win without it. - MJL
well the comment was about last nights game (what does game 5 have to do with that?) , is he not held accountable? what about the prior games? |

Yeah, good wingers but it just shows you how hard it is to fill that 1C. - Minnyhock
lindholm may be a free agency target. Or maybe ex selke!!!! |

what would a potential necas deal look like?
I mentioned necas over month or so ago as a possibility. |

not an eye-popping stat line for one sean walker these playoffs.
early prediction is col trades manson and ross colton to the flyers. |

Where do the Bruins go from here - wcorvette
The golf course, their boats, and their summer homes.
They’ll end up trading Ulmark and likely try hard to get a legit center. Swayman, Pasta, and MacAvoy are a great foundation and they have a very good defense. |

BOS was rumored to be interested in Lindholm. He would compliment Zacha and Coyle very well.

Seeler is a very good 3rd pairing D and solid on the PK. He should not be slated to be a top 4. Flyers need a legit top 4 to pair with JD and York. Perhaps they have the long term pieces in the system (Bonk, McDonald, etc). So please no long term contracts for older players. Not a huge Sanheim fan. |

Obviously prefer the latter. 1-2 years in you could always trade him, and retain if needed. |

They had a deal done with Ulmark going to LA. PLD was involved coming the other way. There are teams that think he very fixable and can be a top flight C. Cough, cough, including the Flyers. |

I'm curious, you really believe with all the "culture thing", Briere would have interest in PLD? He is trending towards a Kevin Hayes type career. Now I do believe Briere will trade for a center, would be shocked if it will be PLD. |
