We shall see what they do this summer. Even trading Laughton will go a ways to get me thinking maybe they get it. We all know they are resigning Konecny.
My biggest fear is that they think they are closer than they really are. - MBFlyerfan
Bingo - you know they are saying man if only we beat san jose and mtl we could have been in the playoffs and who knows what could have happened |

I know the Flyers are the furthest thing from a well run organization but even they can't be that stupid to extend Hathaway. That's a deadline deal next season. - Pelle31Forever

There is a dispute on Johanssen and whether he is going to be medically cleared. If so, he could be bought out instead of Atkinson. Just a possibility that could impact what the Flyers decide to do. - MJL
They could really help themselves trading konecny. It’s going to be funny to watch them resign him.
On Johansen, they’d be fools to buy him out, or anyone else at all. $4 million to play minor league hockey, cry me a river. |

If they sign Guentzel and Jarvis, I don’t see Necas there.

Poehling is only 25 and his cap hit is reasonable both in cap hit and length. I can live with that. Seeler, on the other hand, I agree with you completely. I'm even more bothered by the term of 4 years than his actual cap hit. The NTC bothers me as well. At least they didn't give an NMC so he can be sent down if he ends up sucking.

They’re pretty frugal. But yes, I see them going hard for Guentzel.

So lets say the flyers are 5 6 million over the cap with a day to go before they have to hand in their cap compliant roster. Can they put Ellis and Ryjo on long term injury list to get compliant?
Basically, can the use that before the season starts? My understanding was they couldn’t. - hello it's me 2050
Yes. |

Tulsky and Waddell have a very clear idea of what each player is worth to the team in dollars/years and they aren't shy about moving on if a player tries to get more than that, no matter who it is.
See: Trocheck, Dougie, D'Angelo, Nedeljkovic
Basically the opposite of the Flyers who are always willing to give more dollars and years when they want to keep somebody. |

Nice take on the Kolosov situation Bill.
What about the rumors of TK to Chicago? 2nd overall is out of the question, but what else could they give up with the 20th overall? |

that is also a factor why they haven't won. can't lean on the analytics in every situation. |

I would say no. They aren’t willing to pay Pesce over $5 Mil. - Minnyhock
I would think Pesce is asking for a good bit more than $5mil. |

Poehling is what 24/25 years old? 2 years ain't nothing.
Seeler was plain stupid but again, he's young.
No sense in extending dudes in their 30's like Hathaway. |

Nobody’s whining about it. We are pointing and laughing at the flyers, the low hanging fruit - Just5
plenty of folks here are dogging the flyers for having no cap space after begging them to weaponize cap space to take on bad/expiring contracts like RyJo to get assets (a first!)
they are begging for them not to make any splashes in free agency but in the same breath also are for some reason upset we don't have enough space to do anything? is it that we don't have more space to weaponize? we did get a first, the type of asset we should be happy about. just seems like piling on for the sake of piling on.

It's the nature of being a small market, limited budget team.
They can't take huge swings and miss -- owner can't afford to Kevin Hayes a mistake or bury a lot of money in the AHL (they didn't even have an affiliate this season) or take on bad contracts in trade or take advantage of the LTIR loophole.
They're not really on an even playing field with the rest of the contenders. |
