The day you try to be like AA is the day you should seriously give yourself a good long hard look in the mirror

There is only 1 AA and I'm not trying to be like him. Like WTF?!

That's what came to mind when I read the bolded part of his post.

laugh a little. It's good for the soul.

Mitch avoids body contact like the plague.

I'm sure that will go over well with a coach like Berube...

- Nasty_Duck

You guys really don’t get it.

It’s about effort.

Whoever accuses Mitch of not giving effort truly doesn’t know anything about hockey. 95% of poster on here have never player. They’re armchair coaches reading pie charts

Why would anyone try to be like anyone else?

Solid choice for coach.

Lots of PO experience as a player/coach and tough Hockey.

Hopefully you get the Tocchet experience in Leaf land...

There is a new Sherriff in town. Had to happen & players have to buy in as any team must do. Doesn’t matter if they like it or not it’s the crest on the front they play for. I know it’s an old cliche but it’s truth.

Offseason changes & a fresh start in training camp is coming.

- Nighthawk

There is no such thing as any of that in Leaf land.

You are right - he does put in 100% effort - to avoid body contact.

No one on the planet has grilled a steak as perfectly or as tastily as I just did. With roasted fresh first cut local asparagus and butter rice. I’m in heaven.

Bertuzzi did pick up his play but I found he was often late on the forecheck, didn’t win a lot of puck battles, was out of position defensively and had trouble moving the puck out of the D zone and into the O zone. It was being bad at those little things that drove me crazy.
- Canada Cup

I used to just watch him instead of the puck when he was on the ice.

It was baffling.

He was always out of position.

Nice.

I’ve been smoking my steaks lately, followed by a reverse sear.

It’s high risk, high reward. Easy to over-sear.

But when you get it right, it’s heaven.

Players, not goalies, that will definitely excel under Berube:
Knies
Reaves
Dewar
Kampf
Jarnkrok
Benoit
McCabe

Players that may not:
Rielly
Nylander
Marner
Liljegren
*Robertson*
*Domi*
*Gregor*
*Bertuzzi*

Players I'm most curious about:
JT
Matthews
Minten
Cowan
Niemela

I don't know much about Berube except he seems like a hard ass, I think I like that.

- underhill14

Berube is a hard but fair coach. From my understanding he's very much a player's coach because he doesn't mince words - he will talk to you directly and mean what he says - "what do I do to get more ice time?", "what do I need to change?", "how do I get into the lineup?" . . . all of those questions he will give very direct answers for, and while they are hard answers to hear, they are truth, and he apparently sticks to what he says. Players appreciate that.

Keefe's, "You're too vanilla," is such a bullpoop comment to have made to Vesey - not that he was wrong - but a player needs more coaching and input than that.

I'm agreeing with Drexel - Berube will appreciate Robertson's work effort, but he will have serious concerns with his lack of detail in the D-zone. I expect Berube would have similar concerns with Domi, Bertuzzi and Gregor - all of whom have had their fair share of mistakes, missed assignments or lost battles in the D-zone. Of course I'm on team "don't resign Bertuzzi".

I think if you provide the right support for a guy like Rielly, he'll be fine - but St. Louis didn't fare as well with both Krug and Faulk on the blueline as they did with simply having Pietrangelo back there - who they just played about 40 minutes a game. They ultimately ended up giving all those minutes to Parayko, and while he's good, he's not Pietrangelo.

I imagine several of the players on our Leaf player list will change before October rolls around.
