My advice…

A good career that pays good money & don’t blow it frivolously.
Then extraneous things might matter. Trades for example can pay in the range of $100-200k annum. Less or more depends on choice of trade & sacrifices.

Kitimat LNG alone is $180k/yr. For that it’s 14 days straight of 10hr shifts 1 week off. No expenses while at work with flight in & out paid for.
Work 244 days have 121 days off.

Seaspan shipyard in North Vancouver. There is 20+ years of work on their books.
40hr week or more with optional OT.
$110k/yr min no overtime no LOA
$190k doing 8/12/8/12/8/8 no LOA
$110k/yr plus $48k tax free if LOA
$190k/yr plus $58k tax free if LOA

The opportunities are there.

Laugh all you like idgaf lol

$134k 135 days worked 2023
$110k 77 days worked for 2024
Contemplating October-November @Seaspan for another $36k & $11k tax feee LOA. 121 total days worked for 2024. Golf can wait lol

Want & can retire but too much money on the table to say no to.
Old guys in my trade same boat. Greed is a powerful enticement.

It sets up TFSA’s maxed out for both of us & try keeping maxed out.

Deferring OAS til 67yrs 4mths is a 16.8% increase enhancement for 28mths.
OAS is .6%/mth 7.2%/yr to a max 36% for 5yrs til 70yrs old.

Once starting OAS (non taxable income) can then qualify for GIS (free money) a year later til 71yrs old withdrawing only from TFSA’s (non taxable income) not RRSP’s (taxable income). Can get GIS indefinitely but we will cash in RRSP’s once or if TFSA’s dry up & either get no GIS or much less dependent on taxable income between us combined. Allows more time for RRSP’s further growth with the delay til 71 & mandatory conversion into eg a RRIF.

Deferring CPP til 70 to get max 42% more enhancement for 60mths.
CPP is .7%/mth or 8.4%/yr to max 5yrs 42% til 70.

GIS amount paid is based only on taxable income the previous year such as pensions wages & RRSP’s.

My only current taxable income is work & my union pension I now collect. Plan is to fully retire after 2026. GIS is free non taxable income. After once I’m 70 & start to collect CPP it is taxable income & decreases GIS. RRSP’s further decrease GIS but by then no point keeping it saved waiting til death.

I suggest everyone look into their own set of circumstances before taking CPP which is irreversible.

Try out these calculators that I use & see where you stand or juggle as it benefits you most.

Freddy Andersen this year as well.

Here’s another great CBC article from 2015 that talks about how much more common it’s getting: https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.2976686

Maybe some people are just morons with no memory or research capabilities.

I discount anything 2020 and over because they'll lump it into the same issue. Even then, our articles are from CBC

It’s not funny when people get sick or die from mandated vaccines, stillborns and miscarriages aren’t funny either. Canada’s vax injury fund must have been increased for no reason.
- Strider

Some are too busy reading CBC and posting 'stuff' that seemingly supports their narratives without doing any actual research lol. Just easier to wake up to CBC everyday to get daily instructions. These vax injuries popping up all over are only the tip of the iceberg (Toews and Sutter as well) Their ego's are bruised so even if it's staring them right in the face they will find plausible deniability. Can't make it up dude.

CBC says it's totally normal so that's ok. Bought and paid for 660 million bailout by JT supporters.
