On Wednesday, Tocchet became the third Vancouver coach to win the Jack Adams Award, following Pat Quinn in 1992 and Alain Vigneault in 2007.

Like Tocchet, Quinn was in his first full season behind the Canucks' bench when he won, having coached 26 games in 1990-91. Vigneault was in his first year with the team.

Both of them also lost in the second round of the playoffs in their Jack Adams years — Quinn’s group to the Oilers in six games and Vigneault’s to the Ducks in five.

But it wasn't long before both those coaches got Vancouver to the Stanley Cup final. In Quinn’s case, it was two years later, in 1994. Vigneault needed four years before the run of 2011.

Sounds like we'll be losing another Game 7 in 2-4 years

Cole and DeSmith can go. I don't mind a lot of those deals, seem pretty reasonable.

I posted something on CF yesterday when I was playing around so I will throw out this idea. A buyout of Mikheyev will add about 3 mil in cap.

Moving on from Soucey and Garland (trades for 2 second round picks) would add another 8 mil in cap room (total an extra 11 mil).

This allows you to bring back Zadarov to replace Soucey who was injured quite a bit last year and allows you to target a free agent like Debrusk or Toffoli. It also gives you the Lindholm cap space.

I also looked at signing Johnson (third pair) for one year at 1 mil for a temp RHD with a lot of fight.

Bold is true. Eye test and analytics show his massive add to the defense.

Garland has the fight of a lion and the size of a dwarf. I really liked him but IMO Debrusk would add more toughness and size at around the same cap hit and not to mention the acquisition of a draft pick.

I have no problem with his skill. My only negative about him is he played less than half a season.

His average lost time per year is 25 games a year.

I think it does raise some major concerns that they kept letting him play despite the pain worsening.

Over 100 point pace prior to injury, 60 point pace after it. It was always obvious something was up. No hindsight from me, I have been pretty damn consistent with my view of his play, but nice try.

I’m saying he was less injured than his mates. Why would tocchet play him while resting players be said were injured? I’m sure he had a minor injury. Everyone does after 50 games

Brock Boeser said he took a shot in game 1 vs. Edmonton but the bruise that developed became an issue.

Didn’t hurt initially but later scans revealed a small clot. He was able to play through.

Ahead of game 6, further clotting emerged. He wasn't able to play through

“I wasn’t expecting that,” he said. Emotionally it was difficult, of course.

“Not to be out there in Game 7, it hurt,” he added. But he says he’s good to train and skate now. He’s taking blood thinners.

Sportsnet’s Dan Murphy revealed Boeser also broke his finger ahead of Game 3.That means he scored all seven of his goals with a busted finger.

“I was playing with a bad knee since January. It’s been a nagging injury,” he said.

“It just needs time to rest.”

Casey DeSmith says he tweaked his groin late in Game 3 vs. Nashville.

He thought he’d be able to play, but in the end the coaches decided to go with Silovs.

Oft-criticized for his performance in Vancouver’s second-round series against the Edmonton Oilers, Cole’s steadying impact on the Vancouver back-end throughout this season shouldn’t be ignored. Especially given the injury context that has to be accounted for in the Oilers series.

In Game 2 of that second-round series, Cole collided with Evander Kane and cut his ankle. The cut required stitches, and required Cole to put in a ton of extra time preparing for each game and impacted his mobility in the series.

I’d be fine w the top 4 (Hronek on a 3 year) and Myers. Joshua id rather go w more term on a lower cap hit. A contract that is easy to buyout if he shows up fat. But it’s not my $
