Rick Tocchet says Elias Pettersson had tendinitis. Says they discussed his status with the medical staff, but he never needed to be shut down or rested. #Canucks @Sportsnet650

Until you deal with chronic pain, don't speak on it, you just make yourself look even stupider.

In Garland you lose the most steady forechecker & zone entry winger. On a roster that needs more of that don’t see him leaving. Yes could get more scoring from him but he’s a hustler & noticeable every shift.

Gotta focus on resigning big D men & add a top 6 scorer. Buy more time for Leki & Willander maybe only 1 year at most 2. With no top 2 picks this draft it’ll come to if PA can retain Lindholm some how. Joshua is must signing.

Ya shipping out Garland would be a big mistake, absolute gamer in the playoffs and had a unreal year. If the trade return was insane and we sold high, I guess I would be fine with that but I'd be surprised if they did.

I think outside of Miller and Boeser he was the most consistent forward on the team in the playoffs. I have nearly done a 180 on him compared to the start of the year when he wasn't producing, I think it is definitely in the team's best interest to keep him around.

One of the better possession players in the league, really drives up chances.

Why? He is asking straight questions and doing his job. The guy gets paid millions to answer those types of questions. Quit acting like this isn't part of the entertainment business
- TJTD

He got his answer & then badgered Hronek after. Did you listen?

Gets paid to play & answer questions not to repeated reworded dumb ass reporters.

Yes staying unless a no brainer deal is out there. Not shopping him as he was a big part of the new culture & structure & staples. A leader.

If he suffers from tendinitis in his knee then why was he signed to an 8 x $11.6 million contract.
I suffer from chronic pain so hopefully that qualifies me to ask such a question.

What does his contract have to do with his injury? I was pushing back against the idea that he under performed because he's a wuss, which is ridiculous

How does tendinitis have anything to do with not shooting enough or forcing passes? If it was significant he would not have been out on the PP.

An offseason to get over it & come back improved on other details. For 11.6m it is on him to perform.

Leave it to PA to fill the roster & go for more than a 2nd round exit.

Allvin says he's confident finding "the next Dakota Joshua" in reference to wanting to sign their free agents but the reality that there will be changes

...................................................................

Also if the Tochett Alvin and everyone knew Petey had tendonitis and he wasn't producing for the second half of the season he should have been shut down and them bring in a player at TDL while Petey was on LTIR.

In his own words "I just need some time to let it heal".

If you can't skate you're easier to defend. If he has trouble moving/cutting then you take away certain lanes that he can't exploit

My no brainer would be bringing in a 2C and a top 4 Dman who plays more than 57 games a year, but each to their own.

I have been one of Garlands biggest supporters since the trade but if I can sell high, get a good draft pick and fill two very important spots then I will take it and run.

Sounds like he should have been on LTIR resting and getting ready for the playoffs then IMO.

They were in a playoff race, pretty sure he was the leading scorer at that point too. I'm sure in hindsight they might have considered resting him more, but they didn't know how severe it would impact him, and then they would have given up even more assets for a short term fix.

Really easy to judge the situation looking back.

Yes no argument on mobility but doesn’t explain being too stationary & his choices to force PP seam passes without some sauce at least. Also 5v5 more chip & chase if unable to move like usual but that needs puck hound wingers. He didn’t have enough of that.

A 2C expensive get in a trade best to resign Lindholm. UFA C is another route but who & how much? I think PA will look for more cheap bottom 6’s to have cap for more expensive needs. Other ways to gain cap space will be explored.

Good for him.
The team succeeding should be more important than a scoring title. If they knew he was injured and it was clearly affecting his game, he should have been shut down so that he was healthy for the playoffs.

Man, Petey can't win, if he gets shut down because of a mostly playable injury, people would complain that he could've played or should have been traded at the TDL. If he plays, and has mobility issues that makes it that much harder for him to do the things that makes him who he is, then the team should have put him on LTIR...

I have tendonitis in my knees myself and it makes life absolutely miserable for me, but I can mostly do everything I normally do with some caveats. I can't run anymore or walk for long periods of time or climb stairs without taking care and doing it slowly. I can't imagine how it would affect someone around half my age who is a high performance athlete and has to deal with hard contact on top of it.

They sat out Lindholm and other key players. Petey had not been producing since Feb.

I forget the football team, but there was a very good QB that was a star player for the team and the team pushed him to play injured for the POs and it basically ruined his career. Short term thinking with star players can be very costly.

Petey said today hearing all the sh1t comments about himself took a toll.
