Guentzel has had 4 30+ goal seasons with two over 40. Konecny has had 2 30+ seasons. Guentzel has had 5 seasons of a point per game or better. Konecny has had 1. Last season, Guentzel's 77 points were in 67 games played. Konecny's 68 points were in 76 games played. - MJL
i wonder what TK could do with those players
actually very comparable players. same tier of complimentary players. |

Guentzel is nearly 3 years older than TK. Three of Guentzel’s 30+ goal seasons have come in the last 3 seasons. TK has become a good PKer under Torts and has 9 shorthanded goals the last 2 years compared to 1 in Guentzel’s entire career. Last year TK had 61p in 60 games played. TK’s shooting % the last 2 years have been better than Guentzel’s. Even strength goals the last 2 years JG=50, TK=46.
I will add again, Guentzel has played with Crosby, Malkin, Letang, and Karlsson. TK has played with nobody on their level. |

I must say, this has been quite an "eventful" first 10 minutes at MSG. |

I've loved TK since before we drafted him and I have to agree 100% |

Last 2 seasons
Konecny:
31g 30a 61p
33g 35a 68p
Guentzel:
36g 37a 73p
30g 47a 77p
Only one of these guys was playing on a line with Crosby and a PP unit with Crosby, Malkin, Karlsson, & Letang. - Schmojo
The vast majority of Guentzel's production has come 5v5 tho. And the Pens haven't had a great PP in quite awhile (they were somehow 30th this season with those aforementioned players).
His hockey sense is one of the highest in the league so he's actually on the same wavelength as the greats he's playing with. He's an elite elite chance generator.
And the way he excelled in Carolina should put to bed any ideas that he was somehow a product of who he played with in Pittsburgh.
TK looks close-ish on paper but it's not that close on the ice. |

Regarding Michkov, if he does come over this season, I have to believe there will be a period of adjustment. Possibly an entire season. He'll be 20 in December. I don't think he'll come over and put the Flyers on his back and be our savior year 1.
I would love to find a center for him and get him 2nd or even 3rd line minutes. PP of course. As he adjusts and adapts to NHL let him run. But until then, I don't think we should anoint him Ginger Jesus status. It took G several years to get there.
I can't wait to get him here and watch this kid. |

except you did say that.
Your exact words...."you just said the Flyers lack quality skill and talent. Farabee has neither! Then....in the same post "he is just an OK player with OK skill"
He's better than "OK".
By the way, lots of teams have "ok" players - Briere
Farabee IMO is not better than OK, not by a long shot, and yes a lot of teams have players that are just OK. How many of those teams are paying those OK players $5M for 4 more seasons? Farabee is nothing special, and does not have elite or quality skill and talent. As I mentioned to MJL, go watch the highlights from this year and see how he scores most of his goals. I think the Flyers can and should do better than Farabee. Again, I'm not saying this to disparage Farabee, like I said he is obviously a good player since he is playing in the NHL, only that there is nothing special about his game and if the Flyers have an opportunity to trade him for more or better draft capital I would do it. |

TK is as good a 5v5 player as Guentzel, and is a better penalty killer. TK is also a better leader and plays a grittier game. Guentzel has more offensive skill, but other than I think TK has the edge. It's amazing to me how you fall in love with players that are not Flyers, Mitch "did he play in this playoff game?" Marner is an example. |

That's why DB has to trade TK. He may not get a #1 center on hos own but he can get you a prospect and or a high draft pick.
Very capable centers can be found outside the top ten picks, In Johnston's case the Stars benefitted from the covid fiasco. Even if he was picked ten spots earlier he is outside the top ten.
Giroux was not a top ten pick. Tage Thompsen, Brayden Point to name a couple more.
It can be done. It's not easy but build the best scouting staff and accumulate picks and take your shots.

Guentzel is better offensively sure, I'm not arguing that, Though I would like to see what TK would look like player with Letang, Crosby and Malkin. But there are other facets to the game besides offense, and this is where I think TK elevates over a lot of other players. I didn't take his post as bashing the Flyers or TK, I just don't agree that Guentzel laps TK as you put it. |

It is a subjective term but reasonable people can come to agreement on what it generally means. Even with giving latitude stating that a player is an okay player is basically the same thing as saying he is an average player. His characterization of the player is inaccurate even with the ambiguity of the adjective used.
I agree that he did not state that Farabee is devoid of talent or skill. - MJL
Correct, when I say OK I mean average, or just meh. There is nothing special about Farabee IMO. He is not a fast skater or an above average fore checker. He doesn't have a great shot or exceptional hands. He is a NHL middle six forward that for the most part you can trust to send out there and do a decent job. All I saying is the Flyers need better than this. The Flyers can trip over this type of player any time they want. I think you will agree they need top end talent. If the Flyers had that and Farabee was their 3rd line winger, I would be happy and say the Flyers have a deep lineup. But to me Farabee is not a top 6 winger so if the Flyers can trade him to help them move up in the draft or get more draft capital to get a chance to get higher end talent, they should do it. |

Travis Konecny has a goal, 7 assists and a plus-minus of 0 in 22 games in the playoffs in his career.
and he was (frank)ing terrible in the bubble |

A few points that I'll waste my time making that you'll never understand with your ignorance.
1) Percentage wise, there aren't many players of Farabee's ability in the league. He's in the top 20% of players or so in the league in goals production. Which makes him far better than okay
2) You have no clue how goals are scored in the NHL. The overwhelming majority of goals scored in the NHL are scored around the net. You ignorantly view it as a negative if a goal is scored a certain way. Some of the top goal scorers in the league make their living scoring goals around the net.
3) You're actually the person who needs to review Farabee's goals this past season. You are incorrect in how he scores the majority of his goals. |

You don't even have to have any hockey knowledge to know that you're wrong. Just have to have some common sense, the ability to do basic math and be able to read a stats table to know that Farabee is far above average as a player.
You clearly don't possess those abilities.
If the Flyers can trip over a player of his type any time they want, why are players of his caliber and production percentage wise relatively scarce in the league?
Honestly it's sad that you have no concept how utterly stupid and embarrassing your comments are. You state that the Flyers can trip over a player of his caliber any time they want and then state that they can use him to move up in the draft. |
