hagel was after 4th round
we got nothing for him
we got nothing for borgen
this is epic failure when you have nothing to show for all these draft picks over 13 years and with this rate of failure it's probably better to trade them all for actual assets - homiedclown
Protecting Risto instead of Borgen gained…. Wait for it..

Right, but getting nothing for them doesn't mean they weren't drafted by us. If the argument is that we draft poorly, then they should be weighed in. |

Who is really going to surprise people IMO. Everyone is back on the Savoie train, there's a good possibility Isak is higher in the lineup. |

100%, Wyatt isn't Wyatt here, at least yet. Thinking that the Sabres were going to go off the board by 15-20 picks is just infuriating to me. It's tough enough watching this losing streak, we don't have to make it worse by making poop up. He was never going to be the pick as you say. - QuinnFan
To be fair he was considered a top 10 pick I believe until he took a year off during the whole covid debacle. Only reason he dropped is he didn't want to go play over seas his draft year.

He had 30 pts in 53 games in 19-20, good for 12th on the Spitfires. Jean-Luc Foudy had almost 50% more points, to put that in perspective. He was never going to be a top10 pick IMO. Here was his draft rankings going in:
2021 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #54 by Elite Prospects
2021 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #50 by FCHockey
2021 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #63 by TSN/Craig Button
2021 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #55 by McKeen's Hockey
2021 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #40 by TSN/McKenzie
2021 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #16 by NHL Central Scouting

the sabres have nothing to show for with all of these picks, which is the point
no quality players in the nhl
no assets from trading those blah prospects that never panned out
we do have more security guards than scouts though
and this is one of the reasons why this franchise has failed for over 13 seasons
although money was no longer suppose to be an issue with this franchise |

I don’t disagree. Think he’ll be a fine player. The issue is drafting redundantly a similar player year after year that high. |

Redundant you say...?

lol yeah I know. Tough to pass up on guys that are clearly the best available even at the same size, but that’s why Rosen may have been a frustrating pick looking back. Possibly wouldn’t needed to take that goalie in the second if they took Wallstedt, and would have allowed them to take Casey, Luneau, or Warren. Insert Wallstedt and one of those RHD in the system in place of Rosen (who I like btw) and Leinonen and Catton wouldn’t look less appealing. |

Foudy played more games and was a year older. Johnston was 16 in 19-20.
McTavish the #3 pick in the same draft had 42 in 57 on a not so deep Petes team. Most likely getting more ice time/pp time.
He was ranked low cause he only played at U18's that year. Thats 7 games to base off of. No body knows the body of work he would have put in had he played over seas in his draft year. Very well could of been a top 10 pick.

He had a pretty bad year this year. At 30 years old that contract is a massive risk. I don't think he fullfills the defensive responsibility portion of what they want either. he can win faceoffs tho.
imo i guess. |

Welp,
Less than a month away from the Draft on Friday 6/28 and Sat 6/29.
That means Kevy has 4 weeks to negotiate a couple of trades to make the team somewhat appealing to FA's. - IonSabres
He's been having Conversations™ all year. If anything big goes down, just like Byram and Mittelstadt, it's been a very long, ongoing discussion.

our best 3rd round pick since 2010 is Jonas Johansson
our best 4th round pick since 2010 is Jacob Bryson

The Sabres opted to not sign 2022 fourth-round pick Mats Lindgren, according to sources.
They also chose to not give an ELC to 2020 seventh-round picks Albert Lyckasen and Jakub Konecny. |

41 points in 63 games, 5 points in 9 playoff games....doesn't get signed. This kid stood out to me in the rookie tourny, I'm interested to see where he signs. |

Could never build off his draft year. Usually not a good sign in prospects.
