Replacing half the d corps, is a pretty big remake.
Had the pp scored 2 more goals, the leafs would have won. Imo.
The pp is boringly predictable. I do feel we need someone that can rifle a shot from line. - Fakepartofme
Agreed - in watching the teams whose PP kicks ass in the playoffs I see 2 things that the Leafs PP doesn't have/do.
1. Lots of fast puck movement which is key to get the PK box to break down and chase.
2. An actual shot threat from the point.
Evan Bouchard is the shining example of point 2.

they still have his right for 1 more season..so dont have to, but if this keeps up..they should trade off at the deadline

No, no, no!
I love the analogies on here (The Law's analogy about Bozak being an Ikea coffee table being Analogy Hall of Fame 1st vote).
I was just pissed I couldn't figure out how to keep using it to make my post. - Atomic Wedgie
lol
Ok well then the 4 bald tires are as follows:
"Coaching decisions" - We got a new tire there or at least a good used one with some rubber on it. Should be fine.
"PK effectiveness in the playoffs" - Tre has work to do here and we won't know if that 'new' tire has a nail in it that we didn't see that will be fine until it's almost out of air right about time for playoffs. I think/hope this tire is fixed and has no leaks.
"Goaltending" - Woll needs to be healthy BUT/AND they need a 1B to help him learn and carry the load - especially if there are injuries to Woll (which is a safe bet). This tire should be able to be replaced fairly easily.
"Salary Cap Roster Distribution" - This tire has at least 1 maybe 2 seized lug nuts. One tool to remove it can't be obtained until the end of next season - this is pretty much a fact. Another tool might be available but it's on backorder with no real known date for re-stock but it too might not be until end of next season AND you will have to pay much more for this tool than it will be worth.
Can a car stay on the road in a rainstorm with 2 (maybe 3) good tires vs 4?
Sure/Maybe - depends on if the tires are on one side or both up front or on the back as well as if the car if front wheel drive or rear wheel drive.
Let's hope the Leafs are a Mazda 3 with FWD and the 2 new-ish tires are on the front of the car.
I say Mazda 3 because I had one 10 years ago and that frigging little thing was a monster in snow, rain, loose gravel - it was almost as good at getting through stuff as a truck, if it had better clearance I'd have said it was pretty close to a pick up in that way!

I think the leafs need 1 guy to play with Rielly. Timmins should be in.

I was trying to figure out how to keep with your analogy, but I couldn't do it, so I'm going to just go to plain English.
The core 4 have the talent. We should always keep talent.
Get Berube to figure out how to make them use their talent in the playoffs.
One easy example: Matthews didn't play in traffic in the playoffs like he did in the regular season (the heat map comparisons are stark and frightening).
He has the talent to do so. He has the knowledge of how to do it. Get Berube to make him do it. - Atomic Wedgie
I think if you're just talking goals against then that's fine. But for me a better blueline helps create offense - which I think is the answer to your question above. Our blueline needs to be much better and if it was it can help create offense while not sacrificing defense.
Playoff stats are tricky. Leafs were pretty 'league average' in the playoffs when it came to scoring goals at 5v5. Leafs and Bruins both scored 11g at 5v5 all series. This league is a 1.5-2g at 5v5 per game kind of league in good tight playoff series.
The real lack of scoring came on the PP ...it was historically bad this year. Imagine if the Leafs were just pedestrian when it came to PP success ..they would have scored 4 or 5 PP goals instead of 1. |

Generic ..caters to the touristo's. Great little patio for people watching though.
El Rey has the better food (if you find yourself down there again). And their mezcal lineup is en fuego. |

We are stuck with jt for the year. Such is life.
But im fine with trading matthews and marner.
Build from the back end out, like they should have done years ago.
Willie will be overpaid for most of the next 7 years but hes decent in the playoffs. - Fakepartofme
Matthews to me is untouchable, not after more than a decade of no viable 1C option after Sundin left. |

Holy Fak THANK YOU for this. You saved me typing it out!
All the wet panties to go get Saros or whatever goalie is the flavour of the week and drastically overpay to do so is simply people looking at the small carpet stain in a car when the tires are bald AF.
Sure a carpet without a stain is better but it's not why your car has zero traction in the rain!
Replace the god dam tires.
Then fix the carpet stain if / when you have time, and the ability (money) to do so.
Short term just go and buy a floor mat (older, serviceable veteran type goalie) to cover the stain (take the reins if needed due to injury etc.) a la 1A / 1B. - Cush29
I think trading for Gustavsson is the ticket. There's just not the money to go full ham in goal, cost controlled and young with upside is the mos logical route. Have him and Woll compete for the net long term. |

he has this weird thing that Matthews is not worth his contract.
It is ridiculous. |
