I remember them vividly because the deposit on them was 60 cents - a franking fortune if you could grab one and sneak it out of the house.
I remember sneaking out of the house with 4 of them to go with a buddy to E.T.

Except on the way to the grocery store to cash them in, I ran into my older brother, who was furious I had cleaned out our family fortune.

I had to negotiate that he got dibs on both the milk jugs and my dad’s change bowl for the next little while.

I miss the ol' Beckers jugs.

Side note - they became obsolete mostly bc the provincial gov penalized their use with that mandatory deposit scheme. Well there's hope ...in 2018 the law was changed ..no more mandatory deposits. We can go back to jugs if the producers and grocers decide to ...but I think they like the cheap bags.
