worst thing about them is they're not even (frank)ing bargains. the AAV is poop considering the term and half the time are based on guys having like 1 good year.

I could care less players do not want to move around. Get 9-5 jobs then. Islanders have idiotic contracts as well. Drives me nuts.

It definitely reminds me of Keenan in 94 feuding with Smith about that team not being a playoff Stanley Cup ready before the trade deadline.
Finesse and skill are great in the regular season, but unless you have guts and grit to go alone with it, it doesn't matter much in the playoffs.
Panarin, Zib, Krieder, Fox all showed this to be true when the competition in the playoffs peaked.

I always liked Neil, but Mike was right about that trade deadline.

Brukie, credit to you. You were the first and only to question Panarin. That take is aging like fine wine.
- blacksheep1

Unfortunately so. I also called out Mika. I was belittled and hung out to dry on this board.

He has 2 more years to prove he can be a playoff performer but I dont think this Panthers team is going anywhere.

I’m not sure Igor is here in 2 years. He can reach UFA, why lock down
- TPC

I hope igor doesn't make the same mistake henrik did. Go somewhere and win the cup. He deserves better. Little to look forward to given the NMC/contracts. Can't really overhaul the roster. Teams around us are only going to get better too

Yeah this is the problem. Those teams that think they're signing all the right people after one season get all those contracts have a good year, get to the ECF, maybe back to back years. But some it just aligns correctly for some teams... The fact that the cup the last five years has been TB -- TB -- TB -- FL -- FL for the east is unfortunate.

I know you want this too, but I just want my team to be that competitive multiple years in a row. I look at Pittsburgh winning 5 cups in my lifetime. Detroit winning 4. Chicago Winning 3, Tampa Bay winning 3. Colorado winning 3, LA winning 2.

Rangers with one in my lifetime. And only two SCF appearances. I don't know, I know I sound like Veruca Salt right now, but I want it man, I want that cup and I want my team to be elite.

He can pot 93 next regular season and it won’t mean a thing until the postseason.

Mika and Trouba's regressions this season sewered us. And their career trajectories combined with their contracts and NMCs mean we're basically not getting back here for quite a few years.

I know what Ranger fans are going through with the Islanders losing twice to Tampa. I know Tampa was clearly the better team, but it still hurt. NHL has to do something about these 7- and 8-year contracts and all these NMC. Even if it takes another lockout. Trades and movement are exciting for the fans, and they do not these stale rosters.

Yep this has to be the year. And they just didn’t have it again

It’s really hard to have confidence they can ever get over the hump

Did I make this idea up or what? I thought they added something where max contract length could only be 5 years? Or was that the NBA? I legit forget.

They had some really good pieces but Mika fox Panarin weren’t good enough. Defensive core isn’t good enough. Not really surprised after seeing Florida

I think it's the NBA. I'm not a fan of the NBA, but their contacts seem so much better and the offseasons are much better. NHL FA barely lasts a day and you do not have a lot of quality players available like other sports.
