Yup, that would feed right into your hopes and desire of a teardown
- airjan23

Let's face facts here, this tear down/rebuild was done half assed. Signing soft players, no matter how good they are, over paying for Trouba, whatever they do during the regular season doesn't translate to success in the playoffs. This performance just solidifies the fact that the ECF run 3 years ago was a fluke. We are stuck with this team for a few years now.

It's similar to the Islanders ECF runs. The stars aligned for the Islanders, and they may not have even made the playoffs under a full regular season. Lou then doubled down on giving out bad contracts and keeping the roster the same.

3 years ago we got lucky playing 3rd string goalies, last year smacked down by the Devils, this year carried by Igor and another disappearing act by Mika. This team isn't built for the playoffs. Our first line had 1 goal in the series, no goals from the third line.

This team is built for the regular season, enjoy the Presidents Trophy

The Trouba buyout isn’t too bad if they can’t find a trade partner

4 million cap hit the next 2 years

Then 2 years of a 2 million cap hit after

But they have had playoff success. I don’t agree with that notion. They swept the capitals and beat a very good Carolina team. They lost to a very heavy Florida Panthers team in 6. I’m sorry but I can’t get down with the extremities you constantly catastrophize. I get it we didn’t win the cup but let’s not make it sound like this team isn’t close or that this window is closing. Before this Florida series we were talking about Mika in the conn Smythe conversation. I’m just trying to be realistic about the team. They are a very good young team still and I don’t think ripping it apart because of this series is the answer. Just my opinion of course.

The rangers have to add 3 new defensemen if they are serious. Trouba Gus for sure can’t be on this team.

Mika is always the second best center which is a problem and panarin disappears in may/june. Rangers bottom 6 should be vesey goody cuylle and 3 new players. Rempe 13th fwd.

They are a good team, just think they are maxed out as a team that can get to the conference finals but not over the hump. Don’t need to blow it up. But really need to find a way to move a big contract or two. Moving a Trouba and using that money to fill out the roster could help

That's pretty rough still.

All these trade proposals and buyouts and contract questions for the offseason are useless. We need our stars to be playoff style players. So unless we are able to magically dump Zib for Draisaitl, and let Panarin be a complementary scoring winger that he is in the playoffs, there's not much point in any of this other stuff. Other than feeding all of our collective addictions to this team.

If teams on the precipice of the Cup final can keep rolling out the likes of Ceci and Suter for minutes.. The Rangers should not have any issue trading Trouba..

The question is who replaces him ?? Yeah I know the answer... anyone...
but really ...

Well I don’t think Zib is that guy. Good player but not a top line center for a playoff contender. To just keep running it back hoping he becomes one in his 30s just seems like wasting more of Igors prime years

3rd pair defense men can be be replaced lol

If Trouba could cut his cap hit down to 3 million or so would have no problem with him staying. But when you play in a cap league, money talks when building rosters. It’s nothing personal lol

It's just so difficult to get over the top. Rangers are a good team. Florida is on another level like Tampa was against the Islanders. These 7-year contracts make it very difficult. Teams have to be more careful with handing out these deals.

Exactly. So as much as we want to discuss Trouba and other contracts and trades and signings etc, it doesn't really matter cuz your best players need to be elite/playoff style players to win a stanley cup. We won't get that with Zibanejad as our 1C. So the rest doesn't really matter unless we address that. Give me Draisaitl. Then we can talk cup

You're right. The Rangerd are old. Probably too old, definitely way past the age to have a team sexually assault a player.

Players I feel good about and will be kept: Laf Tro kreider goody fox Schneider miller cuylle

Players I question but will be kept: Mika and panarin

Goners: Gus Wennberg Roslovic kakko

Question marks but should go. Trouba and Lindgren. Lindgren isn’t a top pair dman but good value at $3m. Zadorov or chycrun would be good adds.

Rangers need 3 new dmen and a revamped bottom 6

They have to focus on being a top 10 team 5v5 and shot suppressors defensively. Great specials and goaltending only gets you so far. I would like to see a shakeup like Florida did for tkachuck

There’s nothing they can do with Zib contact. 6 more years at 8.5 good grief.

I would retain money on the Zib contract, making it near impossible for an opposing team to turn down. Almost like a partial buyout. Id retain as much as 2.5m on Zib's contract to move him, making his AAV 6m per for anyone interested.

He has a full NMC. What makes you think he’s just going to waive that? He just had a child and has a family in NYC

This team has never been good 5v5. There is no way to get better when they have no cap space and all these core members Locked up. It sucks but we are stuck as a good but just not good enough roster
