It's a lot of excuse making that literally EVERY team goes through it some point? Wrong! It's called reality. Things go in cycles. for everyone. It's as real as gravity. Don't like it? Find another sport.

Yeah unfortunately the Flyers cycle has been stuck in the same position going on 14 years now. |

It seems like every few weeks/months, you say this.
Couple of comments.
1. Much of your data comes from pre-salary cap era. That was a completeley different environment for roster building than modern times. Other than being able to buy yourself into contention, it was also an era where scouting was much more random, esp with re: to Euro/Russian players. Tanking as a route to success was much less relevant in those days.
2. "Every team goes through it" does not mean all strategies are equal and it is all luck. Everyone dies too, but people who lead healthy lives are less likely to cop it on any given day thaan people who don't. (One can't look at individual outcomes. One has to look at fractions/probabilities).
Finally, it is time for you to man up and accept your role in all of this. Forget tank. Look at thanks. Look at the teams who have won cups. How many of them have fans who thank their blogger in droves for doing their jobs every day? Is that a coincidence? I think not.
(I will add more to this after the EDM-DAL game. I will provide simple #s to show just how non-random the modern era is with respect to chances of lifting the cup).

A very depressing anecdote in that post for sure. - Sublime55
I believe Bill championed the chuckles hire, and defended the av hire - taking two teams to the finals etc -
This is part of the problem of the team paying those who report on the team - they tend to champion the team's decisions instead of looking at them objectively |

If Bob wins a cup is he hall of fame worthy? Good
Resume
- furio16
2 Vezinas, another Vezina nomination and a cup would be a pretty good resume. Even if he doesn't win the cup he would still have a pretty good case. He also only needs 4 wins for 400 career victories.
I cant believe he is 35.
Still one of the worst decisions this franchise ever made.
Another decision where the coach led the charge against a player |

London down 1-0. 1 total shot in the first. Parekh laid out by an elbow. Saginaw gets a 5 minute major. |

You would have thought Dallas would have learned their lesson from game 5 about staying out of the box. 0 for 2 on the kill. |

Would never happen but would you trade Michkov for Lafreniere? - ClaudeFather
Rangers would never make that trade. Laf came into his own this year and was their best forward ,at age 22, in the playoffs. He also has something MM doesnt have and that's size. |

You are right. The big and mighty Rags have just one Stanley Cup since WW2. And they still sell out with considerable higher ticket 🎟 prices than the flyers. |

Yep, but in the longterm it was the best for Bob. There is no chance he would've had the long and successful career he's had with the Flyers. Historically speaking the goalies get blamed for everything and the defense just has to hit people to be deemed successful.
There's people on this board who, despite his multiple vezinas, still questioned him as a playoff goalie until recently and unless he wins a cup he will still be accused of being nothing special by some.
Bob has won more playoff games in the last 10 years than the Flyers have even played.
