Spoiler: I'd be surprised if the player they're predicted to take drops to 11. - kingcong39

The biggest question is what to do with Skinner's contract.
I don't think he is as bad defensively as the popular opinions are on him, yet he doesn't perform to the expectations of his contract. That is $9m tied up for about $5m of play. His best fit for his play is to maximize his scoring on L1 and try to get 30-35 goals.
They can't buy him out this nor next season.. so they have 2 years to go before it is reasonable to do a Buyout. Trades are very limited by the market for him at his contract, and by his full NMC (Botterils biggest blunder is that NMC).
The only other realistic option is to find a 3C who can mesh with him to maintain his scoring, while also having amthat C and RW cover for his unwillingness to play defense.
So, as far as what to do this offseason:
- Leave the D alone and see what happens there with Bryan, Power, Samuelsson and Johnson. Get Hise guys all straight or take appropriate action next offseason.
- acquire a very solid 3C... Good 200 ft game, can be a playmaker for Skinner and is good on the dot. That is alot, but there are options out there... Spend the damn assets to get it right as it is THE critical acquisition for this year and next at least.
- upgrade L4 - more specifically at C and LW. Greenway is your RW for the upcoming season as I don't see Adams being able to trade him out.
JJP Tage Tuch
Benson Cozens Quinn
Skinner Trade - Rosen/Kulich
FA FA Greenway
Now, if they wanted to sign Patrick Kane for 2 years and push that whole RW down 1 line while keeping the kids in Rochester or using them to get that 3C, that would be solid - IonSabres
good post
I have always liked Skinner but to use him right, he needs to be in the top 6 IMO
I think benson, while raw still, offers more on the back end and less on the front end at this time and I would flip him and skinner
skinner-cozens-quinn could be a really good line if quinn has not lost a step or 2 |

If Edmonton offers McDavid/Draisaitl/Bouchard/RNH for Barkov-Tkachuk-Reinhart-Verhaege... How quickly does Florida say yes.
The question was who was more talented. Not who's the best functioning team - sbroads24
My point is, how many other core 4 forward groups are you taking over Florida’s ?
I agree head-to-head that I take Edmonton’s also, but Florida’s is a top 5 group id say.
The numbers also show that they have opened things up and been a rush based team this postseason and relied on their skill and talent and not this “defensive drag teams into the mud” narrative that some are clinging too.

Welcome to my point from 2023. - sbroads24
Makes two of us.
Hence why I’m happy we hired Lindy as the 2022/2023 team was molding to be New Jersey 2.0 to begin with.
The answer was never to overcorrect like Donnie did, and that costed him his job |

I sense an analyst didn't do his due diligence...
“You can’t play a one-on-one game with them. They’re just too fast, too strong, too skilled. So it’s a five-man defensive game.”
Panthers head coach Paul Maurice on the plan to defend against Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl in the Stanley Cup Final.

Well based on this comment, you cannot keep all the players on the roster, so we'll take Lundell AND Bennett.
Also, (frank) off, respectively of course 😉😁🤣 - kingcong39

I doubt it is 100% coincident that every one if them does it. Only time they get somewhat dirty is board battles . They participate, but don't initiate the hits.
Oh well .. moving along - IonSabres

They are focused on defense first, make no mistake. A lot of Their rush chances come from turnovers that their forecheck/neutral zone pressure create. Their relentless forechecking will wear a team down as a game (and series) go on. They have the ability to score off the rush, but they won’t force it. they can also score as a result of their forecheck hammering defense into turnovers and capitalizing on them.
A lot of the narratives about the Panthers are missing key details.

But but but the numbers
Just watch them play ffs. No one said they drag teams into the mud
They steamrolled Tampa, steamrolled Boston aside from times in games 5 and 6. Steamrolled the Rangers that series would have been a sweep if not for shesterkin

Ehlers for Savoie, Jokiharju and Skinner 25% retained, seems like another fantasy land trade.

It's tough. Every deal that people throw Skinner in to, you wonder why they'd want him, and why Skinner would waive for them.
