How hard do you want to work to want to get a guy that costs 8x2? Geez, at that price, they are retaining or taking something bad back in return. 8 per should get you a player that doesn't have warts. - Slump Buster
I personally am not advocating for Trouba.
What I am saying though Is I don't think it's black and white that he's either a bad player with negative value or a great player with positive value.

I actually think it's one of the things the NHL got right. GM's are just big babies about it. Offer sheets should be way more common than they are, just maybe not for like Dustin Penner |

I guess Penner's season was better than I remember, 29 goals, but he was also 24, Kotkaniemi was only 20 when he signed his, and it was only a 1 year deal, and it was a troll for the Aho offer sheet. Like I said, big babies |

It's unspoken collusion. Sucks for players and fans.
4.5m for a 2nd rounder could get a lot.

Do these negative value consider the QoC they typically play against.
Serious question as I don't know. |

There’s a range where a significant number of teams are eliminated from making an offer because they don’t have the required compensation to make the offer. I think it’s the 1st and 2nd combo. Who knew a 2nd rounder would be so valuable. |

Bet you could make some teams squirm just with 4.5m offers.

I didn't look. They put it out right around the same time as the arb comp, so I just assumed they were. |

I know KA is never going to OS anyone. Would just be fun if the league were a little more cut-throat.

He’s loves his picks and loves his drafted players.
That attachment is his major downfall as a GM. Billy Beane in real life and the movie …. Didn’t travel with team. So he wouldn’t get attached and he could trade and cut them easier |

Big shift from offer sheets to a semi-fictional movie GM.

I think we need to expand our minds on what we think is plus/minus value to a team.
These guys have bad underlying numbers but seem to always play on teams that go deep in the postseason - sbroads24
You'd be hard pressed to find a fan expressing positivity in relation to troubas season.
Also, one or two duds isn't going to sink the ship.
The Sabres had Kalinin after all. |
