“I look at every part of this organization and feel very strongly that if there’s a trust in relationships and how you deal each other then you can challenge with each other, I do believe we have that and have the people in the room who can handle that, so that will be something we definitely dig into as we move forward here.”
Adams hasn't changed, he thought bringing in old veterans last year was sufficient support for the core, his trust in his guys hasn't changed.
He is all in with Lindy, he has failed at every aspect of being a GM, there is no indication this offseason with be different.
Conversations in the offseason will yield more production in season, profit. - washedup20
Well he better get to BJ's and stock up on Meat for those BBQ, looks like it could be a Expensive Summer for that. |

Just seeing how the Buffalo fans feel. Would this interest you:
To Buffalo: Konecny(50% retained)
To Philly: Krebs, 11 overall, 2024 4th rounder(oringinally philly's)
You get a top 6 forward who brings some of the things i see buffalo wants and scores at 2.7mil for the year so you can still play in Free Agency.
Flyers get Krebs to see if he can develop if given a more top 9 role and picks to rebuild with. - J35Bacher
My guess is that we wouldn't use 11 to buy a 1 year rental, but I think you could center a trade around some of these parts.

I don't know.
For me a Flyers fan I don't want him at 8mil. This is his last big pay day. The Flyers don't need him on a large long term deal for when the deal starts at age 29. For Buffalo I think he can fit because you guys are more needing to win now.

If he were open to an extension, then definitely. Hard to say yes without knowing that |

Your getting a back to back 30 goal scorer. I would assume Philly would let Buffalo talk deal as well with Konecny. So your probably getting him on a long term deal.
I would need 11 overall included.

The Sabres aren't gonna use 11 IMO unless they know what he wants. No way there paying him 10mill |

I know you made this point before and I made the following counterpoint before.
They want a different make up in the bottom 6 and are comfortable with Thompson and Cozens/3C.
Mittelstadt was worth more as a trade asset than a long term option on this team. We're kidding ourselves if we think we know the projected dollar amount and they didn't/don't. - TheSabresTaco
Well, looking at it from afar, it is too bad for the Sabres that Casey didn't take his career seriously earlier in his career. Had he played that way 1 to 2 years earlier, the Sabres could have positioned him in their lineup and reshaped the roster around him a bit better.
Oh well.
I liked Mitts when he finally "got it". And I liked that they used him to acquire a Top 4 (hopefully) Dman.
Yes, it created a hole at 3C that they hoped Krebs would be able to step up into. That doesn't appear to have worked so far.
So, now what should they do,;
- at 3C?
- with Krebs' contract?
I'd make a trade for the 3C and use one if Kulich or Rosen as a piece in a package.
&
Re-sign Krebs to a 1 x $1.75m |

Konecny brings more value to the Sabres than Rosen, Kulich and Ostlund will combined. This doesn't only hold true for next season but for every year he is on the roster as well.
The Panthers have made the rest of the league want power forwards and Konecny is a top 10 in that regard.
Adams overpaying mediocrity is the only reason this contract will be difficult to add, that doesn't mean you hold onto the mediocrity and pass on this opportunity.

Good post. Mitts is a good player. as i already said, his value to the team was as an asset because they realize they're soft and want to change the dynamic. Krebs was used there as a tryout but their stated goals are top 6 F, 3C, reformat the bottom 6, and as of the deadline, tweak the defense.
Your assets are picks 1 and 2, Rosen Kulich Ostlund Novikov and Neuchev. Savoie too for an incredibly unlikely scenario of overpay by the other team.
They can do it, if they truly want to.

I don't dispute that Konectny is exactly the type of player they need and therefore should target.
On a 5 x ~$7.0m deal, absolutely.
On a 7 x ~$10.0m deal, absolutely not. |

Everyone gets overpaid in Buffalo, ideally you could get him at 7, the $ gap is one Greenway getting shot into the sun move away from making it work.
Would be a good move either way IMO.

I think his deal will eventually fall around 8 years, 8-8.5 million.

For this upcoming season, yes. For future seasons, you are crippling yourself by doing so... Unless of course you ship out bad contracts and underperforming players and replace them with..... Wait for it...

Bye, bye.
Not to you... To the idea of Konecny on those terms. That is a boat anchor of a contract on the out years.
No thanks. |
