the price being high should help a team like us loaded with picks and prospects - homiedclown
The price was just to High, I mean Carolina was asking us for more than they actually got! I did have Conversations and we thought it be Best to keep our Prospect pool intact. |

Good post.
I don't disagree with anything you have stated here and generally feel the same. My posts about Konecny are with the thought of the current roster and Cap space while also factoring in Adams' ineptitude...he isn't shaking the roster up too much. In that light, Konecny's contract demand would kill them.
I asked Sabretooth9 if Tage was a 1C because he commented about the need to have a strong C to win the cup (which I agree with)... I was going to then take it down a path similar in nature to your post above.. but got tired and put the tablet down.
Adams isn't even considering the shake up you implied is needed, and which I agree with. - IonSabres
Shame to, cause Top 5 has the assets to do it and still have a strong prospect pool |

I just keep coming back to the thought that this prospect pool can't be all that good if he has to trade (and even overpay) for a top 6 winger with all his prospects in or on the verge of the NHL.
Why now and not a year or two ago? |

THE LATEST ON THE RANGERS
THE ATHLETIC: Peter Baugh wondered if New York Rangers general manager Chris Drury might consider any moves that shake up the core and free up some salary-cap space.
New York Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba (NHL Images).
Baugh noted that Rangers captain Jacob Trouba’s performance this season did not play up to his $8 million cap hit. The 30-year-old defenseman’s no-movement clause becomes a 15-team no-trade list on July 1 for the final two years of his contract. There’s speculation that Trouba could draw some interest in the trade market, especially if the Rangers retain part of his cap hit.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Baugh believes that’s something Drury should consider but it’s probably not an option the Rangers GM will take seriously. They’re all-in for the Stanley Cup and Trouba is a key part. A more likely cost-cutting trade candidate is forward Barclay Goodrow. He’s under contract through 2026-27 with a $3.64 million annual average value and a 15-team no-trade clause.

Columbus, Vancouver and Calgary are the rumors - Powerslave
Surprising to me about CBJ and Calgary.
If Vancouver gets home, does Ehlers go back the other way? |

Why does Carolina want picks and prospects? I'm sure those are sweeteners, but it's not like they're rebuilding here. We need to keep in mind the state of the franchises we're supposedly dealing with. Carolina is in "win now" mode. They're not trading for number 11, or Kulich or Rosen. You want Necas? Well we want Peterka+, or Cozens, or Tuch. Imagine Tuch on that team? Yikes. |

I do not see Columbus, Vancouver and Calgary offering a cozens or a tuch like to the canes either though
benson and samuelsson/ryan johnson would probably get it done |

Would be hilarious if he's traded for Mitts |

The Canes aren't going to weaken their roster, either way. Their window is open wide. |

In Necas, you're getting at least a second line, possibly borderline top line (depending on situation) 25-30 goal, 60-70 point player just entering his prime. Prepare to pay up. |

He's going to Boston for Lindholm or a package including Carlo.

7.5 mill per year. That’s fine. Excellent skater. Excellent puck mover and plays with speed |

The Panthers have the most talented roster in the league.
Excellent pace and speed.
I still want the hurricanes as our model franchise. Just without the ahl level goaltending. |

Trouba is Risto 2.0 but thank god he can miss hits and bring toughness and can’t skate

Florida took Lundell in 2020. And then a smaller skilled winger in 2021.
Edmonton has used a first in 3 of the last 4 drafts. Before 2023 the last time they didn't select in the first round was 2006. - DirtyDan
Panthers have traded away a few first round picks recently. Buffalo got the one for Rhino, This last draft was MTL’s, next one is Philly’s.
(Zito must’ve realized they’re really just seconds, anyway, right?) |
