I could get down with Chychrun trade, I’ve always been a fan of his. Thats a Kakko + deal I’d think.
CF lists him playing both sides so that would be extra helpful - Slimtj100
They should go after Pesce or Tanev. Chychrun is not a playoff defensemen |

If the rangers got marchessault the Zib haters would be on their hands and knees begging for forgiveness - Slimtj100
Actually, it would prove our point. Good players make the players around them better. Mika hasnt done that at all. |

How do we know, we played 9 playoff games. He’s always on the worst team |

My only issue is both Pesce and Tanev are right handed defensemen, I relize Pesce can play both sides, but I really want to avoid hindering the progression of Schneider.
Was looking at who will be a pending FA next year. Provorov is a guy I can get behind to play LD. Saw someone suggest trading Lindgrens rights to Vegas for Shea Theodore, also pending FA next year. My concern is the string of upper body injuries hes had. |

No, it isn't. LTIR him for what? So we could accrue cap space AFTER the trade deadline had passed?
It's flat out amazing and asinine that you guys blame the front office (or the players themselves) for players getting injured as the season wore on. This is life, not your PS4. If you don't want to deal with reality stick to the safe, virtual spaces you've become used to.
This is the big boy league. We couldn't stay healthy and then we couldn't stay hot. It happens to at least one team almost every damn year. We had a really good team that got beat by a better one that was hot at the right time. Boo hoo. Put on your big boy pants, suck it up and deal with life, or don't. But, don't think that you've all got all the answers in your simulated basement-world and everyone else who is excepting reality doesn't know what's what. So annoying to see all those with perfect hindsight telling everyone else how they knew better than those in charge. - Tonybere
Love this Tony. Im fu ckin gutted from that loss. Really thought this year was special. But we are damn close. The capitals lost a bunch of times before they hoisted the cup in 2018. They don't call it the hardest trophy to win in all of sports for nothing. But yeah, every doom and gloom miserable fu ck here think they know better than everyone else just sound like a bunch of whiny babies who have never played sports before (and I'd be willing to bet some of them haven't) |

You are wrong, the Capitals didnt lose a bunch of times before winning it in 2018. They only made the finals in 1998 and of course 2018 when they won it.
Call those of us who dont have much faith or in Toms case no faith, any kind of name you want, facts are facts, this is the forth season in a row where this core group has failed, 3 coaches, numerous trades and personal changes, sometimes you need to look at the facts and say, this group just doesnt have what it takes. |

Close would be how someone would describe it. You need to win four rounds to win the Cup, this group has won only two rounds twice, the other 2 times, didnt make it past the first round.
So if you think half way there is close, then like Bon Jovi says, You are living on a prayer!!! |

I agree and kind of dont. Over the last 4 years, 50% or more of the team has been 25 years of age and under with like 4 or less seasons of hockey under their belt. Maybe Im wrong here but I cant think of many teams with that many young players who have won the cup. It is however great progress when you're trying to develop a winning team and a championship mentality.
On the flip side, as you said, 3 coaches, upper management changes, 3 years in a row leading in a series and losing.
Im not gonna say this team cant win a Cup, but I think they're in a good position this off-season to fix things, bring in some solid players and be better. |

Really? You wouldn't consider this losing a bunch of times?
Capitals Playoffs:
2017- Lost Conference Semis
2016- Lost Conference Semis
2015- Lost Conference Semis
2014- missed
2013- Lost first round
2012 & 2011- Lost Conference Semis
2010- Lost first round
2009- Lost Conference Semis
2008- Lost first round
So they made the playoffs every year but one before winning the cup. I'd say you're the one whose wrong.
Yes, I agree with you that the Rangers have come up short and it is the fourth(there's a U in that word) season. But I simply don't agree with you that it's factual this core doesn't have what it takes to win it all. Tyler Seguin recently said it perfectly after the Stars loss. To paraphrase, hockey is hard and it takes a lot to go right to win and to quote "unfortunately you have to lose a lot to win in this league" Time will tell as their careers aren't over and there's really not much we can do with this core group (except maybe move Trouba) |

Looking a year ahead, theres one thing that can hinder the Rangers off-season this year. Both LAF and Shesty are free agents next year. Shesty is playing himself into a 10-11m contract. LAF will get a massive raise.. probably 6-7m per year on a bridge deal, 8m x 8 if its long term. As well as those 2... Miller, Cuylle and everyones fav player Rempe need new contracts.
Even if we trade of Trouba and move on from some other players... financially we can probably only squeeze in 1 free agent player worth around 6m this off-season. |

Isn't the cap projected to go up a decent amount in the coming years? Bread will be off the books by then too
Edit: I am wrong. Bread is the year after |

Trouba for Andrew Copp and then we sign Chris Tanev.
Assuming both would waive for the other team (which I think they would) - Slimtj100
Andrew Copp has a 10 NTC. Better hope the Rangers aren't on it. |

Toffoli like Kreider and Zibanejad are play driver dependent. Hard pass on that. |

Yea they are a bit redundant. Just like that’s a sniper for that line. Not many good FAs out there at a good price.

I'd also be concerned about the mileage Tanev is racking up. He just came back from another reasonably serious injury, no? |

I had thought you meant getting to the finals, but now I see how asinine your comparable is. All teams lose alot before they win it. Some never do, Sharks won alot, never won a Cup, Vancouver, won alot, never won a Cup. Buffalo is always losing, cant win poop.
So what you are saying, teams lose and will eventually win a Cup. Brilliant, you must win a lot of money betting!!

Someone is gonna give Tanev more than we would probably want to.
This years free agency is going to be a tricky one because the cap is going up so much, players are going to want their pays to be relative to the increase causing an inflated market. |
