You'd think that. But for some, they are willing to overlook that because of the vibes.

Big reason why I would really like for them to go for Marchessault over pretty much any FA right now. Small but gritty, fast, drives the play and can obviously score at even strength. For a guy thats only 5'9, also gets close to around 100 hits a season.

Furthermore, to avoid the craziness in FA, sans Marchessault, We could maybe make a move for Frankie Wheels. Pending FA, 3.65m could be very nice.

I had thought you meant getting to the finals, but now I see how asinine your comparable is. All teams lose alot before they win it. Some never do, Sharks won alot, never won a Cup, Vancouver, won alot, never won a Cup. Buffalo is always losing, cant win poop.

So what you are saying, teams lose and will eventually win a Cup. Brilliant, you must win a lot of money betting!!

- Brukie

No, the only thing asinine is how you twist words. When did I say all teams that lose in the playoffs eventually win a cup? I'll wait....

I pointed to the caps as a team who kept their core in tact throughout their years of struggling to get over the hump. They didn't dump guys like Backstrom, Kuzy, Carlsson, Ovi (obviously not), and others because of a few failed years. They weren't constantly chasing the next "best way to win the cup". They added and tweaked their core until they got it right. They wound up putting it together and wining it all. A simple, small analogy that you morphed into something else

That 2018 caps team gave me hope for this year bc they were only cup team not top 10 at evens to win a cup in the last 10 years

I thought ignoring the point of a post and twisting it into something that could fit your own narrative was the point of this site!!! Have I been getting it wrong all these years???????

So you want to use only one team that kept its core together added pieces and then won a Cup? Really?? You could use just about every team that has won a Cup did the same thing!!! Teams dont do a full roster turnover every year.

I just pointed out a few teams that stuck with the same core who havent won anything.

(frank)ing ignorance on this site is insane!!!

So you are saying Im ignorant to the fact that what?? This team is capable of winning it all??

Maybe they are, from what we have seen, most likely not.

i think if i saw more dominant play in the 2nd/3rd round instead of the best goalie in the league just weathering storms 80% of the time and keeping us in it, i'd think we were closer. just not too sure these guys have it.

I don't completely disagree.
But, at our most flawed, we are still years ahead of many teams in the league. It's a spectrum (many here should be familiar ). We have needs, but they can be met!!

That just goes back to the fact this team has to be a top tier EV strength team. Far too long relying on goalie and specials. Once the PP went cold they are done for.

The Fox and Trouba injuries probably crushed our chances. Florida took full advantage as their D partners couldn’t pick up the slack. In hindsight, make sense why they were stuck in their own zone so frequently.

Mika, as well as the forward depth are completely different conversations. Hopefully Mika finds something this offseason, and Drury can retool the bottom 6 and 1RW appropriately. 2024 was probably their best chance, but think another run is in play, especially if they are healthier.

Bigger issue is aside from fox who was hurt nobody besides him and miller can make passes out of the zone. Has to be addressed.

Trouba healthy cant pass or retrieve pucks well. Same with schneider lindgren

I feel like the Rangers only know how to play one way, which makes it difficult on them when other coaches start making adjustments.

Offensively Rangers have 2 plays, up the boards and long cross ice passes through the neutral zone. So when other teams start to clog the middle of the ice with 2 aggressive forecheckers have have 3 guys playing back to cover the boards, the Rangers are now forced to play up the ice. When they tried, the FLA defensemen stepped up and played the body. Its not their game.

Defensively, it looks like they play a tight zone. So rather than man marking, they try to take away space. Giving up small creases to shoot at the net. They were getting beat to the pucks, they were getting beat on the pucks and when the game called to be more 1 on 1, physical, they couldnt/didnt do it. Every time the Rangers went for a check, it was pathetic lackluster shoulder shrugs that the FLA players would just skate right through.

That’s the thing, bad teams don’t make the conference finals 2 out of 3 years. So people that say they are losers or suck, it’s just dumb. I do think it’s fair to think this core has reached its ceiling. May need to replace a piece or 2 to get over the hump and have a realistic chance to win the cup

Over exuberance? And you call me ignorant

The fist sentence in my original post was that I was gutted about the loss. What exactly am I exuberant about? Hopeful maybe? The fact that we have a strong farm with plenty of young promising prospects and a core that we can all but guarantee will take us to the playoffs every year?

You also said you listed a bunch of teams that haven't won. Before you type up a bunch of angry word vomit, maybe go back and read the post where I mentioned Tyler Seguin, someone WHOSE WON IT ALL, said himself winning is not easy in this league. You have to lose a lot to win. Does that mean they will definitely win? Of course not but yes, I am hopeful even with your futile attempts to piss on that

For sure. Having Fox on one leg was a dagger. Everything he did looked labored. Florida knew it and took full advantage. Great strategy. I also re watched some games and they really suffocated Panarin whenever possible.

I wonder if they give Chytil the 1RW spot for next season. Would it be crazy to think they do that and then target someone like Stamkos to fill Chytil's spot?

Edit: Seems like Stammer has been playing more LW than center recently. That may throw a wrench in this
