Over exuberance? And you call me ignorant
The fist sentence in my original post was that I was gutted about the loss. What exactly am I exuberant about? Hopeful maybe? The fact that we have a strong farm with plenty of young promising prospects and a core that we can all but guarantee will take us to the playoffs every year?
You also said you listed a bunch of teams that haven't won. Before you type up a bunch of angry word vomit, maybe go back and read the post where I mentioned Tyler Seguin, someone WHOSE WON IT ALL, said himself winning is not easy in this league. You have to lose a lot to win. Does that mean they will definitely win? Of course not but yes, I am hopeful even with your futile attempts to piss on that - NYR11

"I think Lindgren is [a] guy who [#NYR] take care of. It wouldn't surprise me if it's done before July 1st. I think there's a sweet spot there ... he's so valuable to them. He has such intrinsic value to the team. I think they'll take care of that."
Trouba is the most logical “major move”, and it is hard to picture Lindgren in a different jersey |

Trouba is definitely the main one. I think Chytil and Kakko have to go as well. |

I disagree on Chytil. I think they’d be selling low because they wouldn’t get much. He looked good at times and seemed to avoid much of the concerns we had
Kakko, yea I’ll drive him to his new city and maybe take him to the dentist before we get there |

I just dont think Chytil the one to put us over. Not at 1RW, not as a 3C. I dont care if they sell low. We will never be able to maximize on him because of the concussion history. To me its like a Kakko situation, they're playing him on any line possible to try to see if they can extract more then they have out of him. There's some solid players out there. Marchessault is my #1 target to fill the 1RW position. |

Not sure where chytl fits tho. He isnt playing on the top line wing. And is he good enough defensively to be a 3C?
Bertuzzi, arvidsonn, mantha could be a good fit on RW

This was the first time in Chytil's career he has ever played RW. No hes not good enough defensively to be a 3C. |

We need a 3rd line that can actually score goals (consistently). If we had that we could still be playing. Games 5 and 6 vs the panthers GW goal both came from their 3rd line
Chytil is valuable because he can play a few positions/lines. I’d be surprised if hes traded, but you never know |

They tried him at a wing a few times in his career. Good player just not sure he is a fit on this roster anymore.

Mantha and Lavy don’t get along. We’ve been through that
Marchessault is the guy to go out and sign from outside the org. Aec is dead on with that one. He might fit cap wise too, cheaper than Guentzel. |

That depends on who is re-resigned and how much cap is shed. Why I hope Bedard and Sykora get a real look-see in camp to see if they are viable third line options. But my guess is no |

The one difficulty we face isnt this year, is next year. We dont want to go too overboard this year in FA because Shesty, LAF, Miller and Cuylle (and Rempe) need contract extensions next year. Shesty is playing himself into a record breaking contract and if LAF keeps going next, he's gonna get big money too. |

You figure Othmann and those 2 get significant chances to make opening night roster (like Cuylle last year).
They definitely don’t have much wiggle room since Goodrow is most likely still a member of the team. |

In 2 years both Panarin and Trouba will be off the books for sure. It will be easier to move on from Chytill and Goodrow too if need be. The cap will
Take another jump too. The only bad contract will be zib. I don’t see them spending on free agents. Think they go the trade route |

I had thought you meant getting to the finals, but now I see how asinine your comparable is. All teams lose alot before they win it. Some never do, Sharks won alot, never won a Cup, Vancouver, won alot, never won a Cup. Buffalo is always losing, cant win poop.
So what you are saying, teams lose and will eventually win a Cup. Brilliant, you must win a lot of money betting!! - Brukie
Perhaps a better example is Tampa Bay.
Let's say their real core started in the 2013-2014 season as that was the year that Kucherov joined the team. They went to the conference finals in 2011 but then missed playoffs the next two years.
2014: Swept in first round
2015: Lost in Cup Final
2016: Lost in ECF
2017: Missed Playoffs
2018: Lost in ECF
2019: Swept in first round
2020: Won SC
2021: Won SC
2022: Lost in Cup Final
How many times during those years from 2014 to 2020 did TB fans call for Coopers head, for the core to be blown up, etc. Winning is hard and blowing up the core when they are gaining valuable experience doesn't make sense to me. |

This right here is an illustration of why the people calling for a firesale are not NHL franchise executives. They have an answer for every question except "which team do you work for?"

Thats 2 years from now, but 1 year from now we will have to give them contract extensions. So whatever we do this year, will directly affect us next year. Im gonna hope to speak this Marchessault thing into existence. Other positions may be filled/replaced via trade, but 1RW is one that can be solved via FA.
Ive seen some Jack Drury rights for Kakko rights trades, which could work for us. Especially if they move on from Chytil. |
