If the Sens can get PLD on the cheap I would jump at the opportunity. It's not everyday that you can get a 6'4" 225lbs 25 year old C that's already a proven 30 goal scorer with a good 200' game. Right now it's not like we're loaded with talent at the C position. Our #1 C Stutzle is smallish, timid, unreliable with the puck and physically weak(not too promising for playoffs). Norris has a history of injuries and Pinto has a decent 200' game but doesn't see the ice very well and misses too many grade A scoring chances. Why not PLD if we can get him at the right price.

100%, A+, the right stuff.

If the Sens were to acquire a horse like PLD, they could think about moving Stuetzle back to the wing.

Chychrun was a bad fit in Ottawa. PLD was a bad fit in LA. This is a swap made in heaven and surely blessed by th hockey Gods.

Rumblings Buffalo might buy out Jeff Skinner. Now that is a perfect buy low candidate for the Sens IMO. Sign him with zero trade protection, one year for 4M. Though Chicago probably pounces on him with a serious overpay like they did with Foligno, Perry, Athanasiou, D!ckinson (the "4.25M special") as they attempt to find winger fits for Bedard. Skinner puts it in the net though, I'd love to see him in Ottawa.

The thing is, the Sens can’t get him at the right price. His contract is far too big for far too long and LA isn’t going to do Ottawa any favours keeping cap hit.

If they did buy him out, there would be much better teams offering him the same money as Ottawa.

Wouldn't he be a higher priced Joseph (replacing speed with more grit)?

3.6 is way too much.

I take Goodrow in a playoff run hands down! J not there yet

Goodrow was a huge factor compared to him in 2021. Goodrow also won the cup in 2020. Did not play in cup finals with SJ in '16 but was around guys

Markstrom apparently heading to the Devil's thankfully. No other info, but at least he isn't heading here.

The trade return was a 1st-2025 (top-10 protected), plus Kevin Bahl (6'6-230 D-man), with $1.875M salary retention. The closest equivalent Senators prospect would be Tyler Kleven, so I'm pretty sure most people will be relieved they didn't go that far in terms of a counter-offer. But as a domino, it could set things into motion in terms of Ullmark/Saros. For those who enjoy flux capacitors at 88MPH, it's interesting to hear Gustavsson/Talbot as possible names being thrown around once more. Maybe they could get Biff Tannen to play 4th line/PK while they're at it.

I whole heartedly agree, when the kings media and pundits are talking about possibly buying him out....why would we be the suckers who trade for him. I would take a short term flyer on him AFTER he was bought out, but no fracking way do I want to take his salary on for 8 years.

Dubois seems to be on his way from LAK to WSH for Kuemper. No salary retention. Interesting deal. He could actually be quite a good fit in WSH given their lack of scoring depth and overall defensive team structure.

last ditch effort by WSH to try and get Ovi another cup/break Gretzkys record nd LAK moving out dead cap.

the hockey gods save OTT from 2 horrible mistakes in Markstrom and PLD

The Los Angeles Kings and Washington Capitals are finalizing a trade that would send Pierre-Luc Dubois to Washington and Darcy Kuemper to Los Angeles, per Pierre LeBrun

If Norris is healthy, BUYOUT. That's 8M you get in cap space next 3 years. Easy sell to fans - and Brady too....

Very nervous about trading for a player on the end of their contract again. He'd be alot better than what they have now though.

Like trade proposal - don't see it. Clarke would be awesome but 7th AND Chychrun i a high price. Also LAK must buyout Kuemper

Thank god PLD has been traded. At least he won't be in any rumours to Ottawa until after another down season he will be brought up as a "fit" in Ottawa.

So it looks like our attempts to improve our goalie position will come down to either Ullmark or Saros (although I think Saros stays in Nashville). More likely we try for some retread back-up goalie to replace Forsberg.

Also hoping my mini swing for the fences occurs with Ottawa's 2nd round pick being Ilya Nabokov in the KHL.

I don't understand the Brandon Tanev talk.

First, he's not a RD.

Secondly, who is he replacing? Someone on the third line? Tarasenko's slot?

Seems like a lateral move.

The talk of Brandon is because you really want Chris. You sell it as a brother's reunion in Ontario. If playing together matters to them at all, it might help get Chris Tanev signed at a reasonable (IE non-Ottawa tax) 1/2 years.
