"“It’s a private issue between the player and his family,” Overhardt told TSN’s Pierre Lebrun. “We definitely had conversations with Philadelphia, we had very respectable conversations with Philadelphia about it, we’ve chosen just to take the high road and leave all that information private.”

Maybe you should look up the definition of the word communicate. I know this will come as a shock to you, but it actually doesn't mean 'getting the answers you want to get.'

The Flyers knew they got dumped, but kept pursuing their teen heart throb anyway. Jonesy and crew need to learn that no means no.

Not Gauthiers problem.

And yes, I do believe he was promised a contract at the end of his college year by Fletcher. No proof, but it does help my line of thinking

- TheFreak

Yes, absolutely I can understand that. But what bothers me is how so many so-called fans of the team can just not give that team any benefit of the doubt, even going so far as to believing unvalidate rhetoric just so they can believe what they want to believe. I guess it's indicative to the larger state of our country. IMO people are polarized because they want to be. There is little to no hope anymore .. and its sad.

Never going to happen. The NHL's US TV partners are concentrating on football and playoff baseball in September and October, so they won't allow the NHL to start the season earlier than the 2nd week of October.
- Feanor

Yes, so compact the season a bit more, reduce the all-star festivities and stop the weeks off for teams.

Firstly, Drysdale absolutely has the potential to be a 1st pairing defenseman, in fact at his draft he was the only defenseman that was projected to have this potential. He was rushed to the NHL but still at only 19 years old played 81 games his first full season. Yes he has since got hurt, but this is not unexpected from a smallish defenseman. He is only 22 years old. He will get stronger and smarter and learn to stay on the ice. The fact is Drysdale has only played 147 NHL games. You really need 250-400 NHL games before you truly see what a defenseman is going to be. We need to be patient and give him time. Also Quitter hasn't played 1 NHL game yet and like I said, as a sophomore at BC was not even the best player on his team. Let's see if Quitter can stay on the ice his first few seasons and see what he can do. There is still a long way to go with this story.
- jd250

he may, not a fact he will.

will he make it to 250 games is a valid question. if so how long will it take?

cutter has played 1 game. averaging a ppg in his nhl career so far.....

I agree, and I don't believe that Gauthier wanted a contract AND guarantees about playing time. The Flyers were regularly playing six forwards in March/April 2023 who never played for them again - Hayes, JVR, Allison, Lemieux, Laczynski, and Bellows. Plenty of room for Cutter in that lineup.

Philly fans would have too. You included.

Agreed... I think we are going to be watching this kids career thinking "what could have been!"

As of right now all we have for Drysdale is hope. Hope he stays healthy and turns into a very good dman. As it stands today I can't say he is going to be a 1st pairing guy. I just don't see it as it stands today....

I just have a really hard time believing everything the team says. It seems to be half truths, or just the part of the truth that fits their side of the story.

I don't believe anything. I suspect. And that suspicion comes from context.

Dysfunction is rarely a loner. It is almost always a mob. Consider:

1. The hiring of Hextall, who was so much a Flyer that he had "A Flyers Tattoo on his ass" (Homer, news conference)
2. The firing of the same Hextall, who apparently disrespected the same "Flyers royalty"
3. The giving up of a first rounder for Risto by CF.
4. The hiring of Torts just a year later by CF, who proceeds to try and fundamentally change Risto's game. (if you give up a first rounder for someone, you have a vision for that player. If you hire a coach around the same time, you also have a vision. And uhh, those two visions should align)
5. Clarke, an unpaid advisor who is apparently distantly connected, ranting on tv about Sanheim needing to earn his pp time.
6. The constant hiring of extremely mediocre insiders.
7. The strange injured no he is not yes he is with Ellis.
8. The strange injured no he is not yes he is with Couturier.
9. The overpayment to Hayes and then the NTC.
10. The weird dynamics in the locker room before Torts.
11. The weird dynamics in the locker room after Torts (Hayes clique etc)
12. The miscommunication with Provorov about Pride Night and the subsequent fracas.
13. The strange hiring of Jones, and the strange job description.
14. The weird style of Torts, and his adulation by his bosses even though the performance by his team is pretty much at par with what he has done elsewhere (which, it is important to note, isn't much)
15. The Yandle necrophilia
16. The continued historic ineptitude of the pp.
18. The continued harping about rebuild while actually just getting rid off players organization/coach doesn't like and praising a megalomaniac coach whose entire coaching style is to deprive you of best chance of a rebuild.
19. The cringeworthy choreography of the post CG trade reaction (iirespective of what actually happened).

In this context, I strongly suspect the Flyers are simply a sub-par organization at this stage. Are they pitifully bad? No. But they are at best floundering, and that is the background I have when looking at the CG events.

Well said.

Here is the thing: After the last decade why should any fan give this franchise the benefit of the doubt? Good teams and good management get the benefit of the doubt - not this team.

He won't be when the conviction gets overturned on appeal. The damage is done from their POV. They wanted to be able to campaign on the "convicted felon" rhetoric regardless of how trumped up(pun intended) the charges were.

It backfired spectacularly.
