Ok, so say you are right and this was the reason. Think about it, Quitter decided he would rather pass up roughly $950K in the 2023 season and a shot to make the Flyers, and instead go back and play another college season and demand a trade, which pushes his NHL entry back a year, just to spite the Flyers? Does this sound like a good and sound decision to you? The kid has serious character issues. We saw it first hand in the final four, where not only did he open his stupid mouth to trash talk the Denver team before the final, he was a complete no show in the final game. Anaheim ... he's all yours! - jd250
You're blowing it out of proportion and acting like a scorn girl who got dumped. I don't like the way that Gauthier handled it but that does not mean he has serious character issues. That's BS. He was voted the outstanding forward in the WJC and a finalist for the Hobey Baker award. Anaheim got the better end of the deal and the Flyers screwed themselves.
dont some evaluations/ rankings have cutter as the top prospect in hockey or something to that effect? - hello it's me 2050
No, he’s a top prospect for sure but he’s not on their level. He ranks below Fantilli, Carlsson, Cooley, Michkov, Smith and would not go ahead of Celebrini. That’s just the forwards, as he ranks below many young defenseman too. He is most likely going to be a very good player but will do that at wing. Most evaluations still see him as a 1LW at best and question if he can move to the middle, even though his size makes it appear ideal. He still makes questionable decisions at times and isn’t the best 200ft player. He should excel playing alongside Carlsson.
Sadly, the coach was right in this regard. Couts, Frost and Brink all played poorly down the sin tretch, when the game intensity increase significantly. - jd250
The only thing sad is how far you have your head up Tortorella's ass. It was a horrendous coaching decision and is indicative of the flaws in his coaching mindset and why they'll never win with him.

"“It’s a private issue between the player and his family,” Overhardt told TSN’s Pierre Lebrun. “We definitely had conversations with Philadelphia, we had very respectable conversations with Philadelphia about it, we’ve chosen just to take the high road and leave all that information private.”
Maybe you should look up the definition of the word communicate. I know this will come as a shock to you, but it actually doesn't mean 'getting the answers you want to get.' - PT21
You don't seem to understand the difference between never communicating with the Flyers and then after informing them that he didn't want to sign with them, cutting off all communication and having no further communication. All well documented. Discussed ad nauseam on here. Maybe you should do some more research.
Briere and Co have lied multiple times to fans, not just the once.
They lied about no contact with the player or agent. No contact and not getting the answers you want are 2 totally different things.
- TheFreak
That's not true at all. The Flyers never stated that they never had contact with the player or agent. They said when they wanted to sign him in May, and the Gauthier camp said they no longer want to play for the Flyers, and communication was cut off. That's when the Flyers stated that they no longer had any contact. They didn't lie about that.

Well the agent states otherwise. Agent said he spoke to them in Sweden and home.
Do you have any proof they didn’t lie ? Please share.
Technically, they said they were unable to get in touch with Gauthier. The sneaky implication was that they were unable to get in touch with his camp, which is of course untrue. But it was an implication, so subterfuge I guess, not outirght lying.
- PT21
You're wrong. It not untrue. Once Gauthier told the Flyers he no longer wanted to play for them, the Flyers were unable to get in contact with the Gauthier camp. This is well reported by sources such as Elliotte Friedman
I strongly doubt Flyers don't have any idea why the kid wanted out. I think they have some very, very good ideas. The frantic stalking of Gauthier was not about getting answers. It was about getting the answers and then using them to try to change his mind. - PT21
I'm sure they have some ideas but they wanted to hear from the player. It was not frantic stalking. It was attempt to talk to he player to try and fix whatever the issue was. Which was the Flyers right, as they had sole negotiating rights with the player. Of course they wanted to try and change his mind. What is wrong with that? LOL
Firstly, Drysdale absolutely has the potential to be a 1st pairing defenseman, in fact at his draft he was the only defenseman that was projected to have this potential. He was rushed to the NHL but still at only 19 years old played 81 games his first full season. Yes he has since got hurt, but this is not unexpected from a smallish defenseman. He is only 22 years old. He will get stronger and smarter and learn to stay on the ice. The fact is Drysdale has only played 147 NHL games. You really need 250-400 NHL games before you truly see what a defenseman is going to be. We need to be patient and give him time. Also Quitter hasn't played 1 NHL game yet and like I said, as a sophomore at BC was not even the best player on his team. Let's see if Quitter can stay on the ice his first few seasons and see what he can do. There is still a long way to go with this story. - jd250
You're wrong. Gauthier was a Hobey Baker finalist. None of his other BC teammates were. This is an example of what is meant by you just continue to make poop up.

Yes, there was no further communication after some time presumably because there was nothing to communicate about. The decision had been made, and conveyed. They did not have to say anything more because from their perspective, there was nothing to say.

BC had 2 players that were among the 10 Hobey Baker finalists. Will Smith was the other one.

So you're admitting that you were wrong. Glad we got that straightened out. From the Flyers perspective, there was more to communicate about.

The only thing I am admitting is my repeated folly of conversing with a man who is a decades long poster child for not taking his long overdue psychiatric meds.
That’s fantastic! Someone who’s good at editing needs to post a portion of tomorrow’s big presser with that music superimposed in the background! - mikeyo27
Its is a indeed a fantastic composition. Kind of Blue gets my vote for greatest American album of all time.
Is Torts immune to a terrible start next year? - rayc16
I am not sure what the flyers hierarchy are aiming at. Rebuild on the fly, stay solid planted in nomansland? They are definitely not interested in tanking and play guys for the future over dinasour veterans as of yet.

Now, cretin, (frank) off. - PT21
LOL, all it takes is to remind you of the facts for you to go off and embarrass yourself. Every once in a while, you need to be reminded and put in your place. It's a public service I perform. Get your act together.

Please just spew ill-informed hyperbolic crap on a message board without know what the hell actually happened and with no context behind it. Won't tax your pea-brain that way. - bmeltzer
Omg! Someone rattled Bill's cage 🧐
But a pre-brain will be president in 2024. Anyway way you slice it. 😉

Simple question cliff. Is the agent lying saying he did talk to the flyers in sweden and when they got home?
the agent has debunked this already yet you still repeat it. why?

provide the facts that the flyers are not lying? you have none. why wont you address that the agent has contradicted what the flyers said you turd?
The Gauthier defection hurts, the Flyers now have zero center prospects. You don’t have many successful rebuilds without building through the middle. Whatever happened is irrelevant, it happened.
Man, this organization has pooched a couple good picks in recent years.
