We just know St. Louis won't be the destination:

They were waiting for Stamkos so they could sign him as a free agent. Blues worked out a deal with John Cooper years ago. Maroon was just to sweeten the deal |

Is there a picture out there of Stamkos wearing leafs pajamas sleeping in a legs bed sheet set?
I think the two cup in Florida and everything about Florida. (Weather and no taxes). Means it’s 90 percent or higher he stays in Florida
But who am I to say. I’m just a hockey fan with no insider knowledge…….hey. I could be ek, but I tend to spell things correctly |

Stamkos wants to win, and after all the dust settles for Florida, Carolina and a few other teams in Cap crunch, Tampa will be a top 5 opportunity to do that again.
Add to that his legacy and his families desire to stay there, ZERO chance in hell he goes anywhere.
He will trade term for salary and, like Hedman, will write the book on how to sunset core stars, and remain competitive.
Not like Pittsburg... - TrueGrit
For one, it is spelled 'Pittsburg H.' Secondly, what are you talking about? PIT has kept their entire core three for their entire careers. Hextall was a bit contentious with Malkin extending, but nothing especially egregious. |

"Stamkos has done all he can in Tampa as a Lightning. But personally, the guy is in love with the city of Toronto and would LOVE to be the one who leads his childhood team back to a Stanley Cup."
Nope. Just nope. |

That Stamkos take is nuts. Will that major signing bring a cup final, even without Marner or Tavares? No. Click bate eck. |

Over time, every successful franchise carves out a competitive cycle around REBUILD PEAK FADE. In time, the FADE stage is converted into a new REBUILD. Brisbois is smart. He is doing FADE gracefully. Tampa will then transition quickly from FADE to REBUILD. Chicago is the best current example of a team PEAKING with a Stanley Cup, FADING and then moving into an accelerated rebuild. Pittsburgh is your best example of a team that is stuck in FADE and the Pens seem committed to staying there for a few more years.
Most franchises do not win a Stanley Cup. Yet they still experience a competitive PEAK. If the Leafs move Marner and sign Stamkos they will begin transitioning from PEAK to FADE and they won't even know it. The Leaf FADE may be very long and very ugly. |

Does anybody really believe the Leafs become a more competitive team by moving Marner?
Most Leaf fans are pretty smart about all things hockey. A minority are irrational in a crazy stupid sort of way.
Remember the artist who took a full bucket of spit and threw it against a wall and called it a creative work. Sometimes, I wonder if some crazy, stupid Leaf fans just don't understand spit. |

Most nhl teams win a cup since 67. The leafs will fail again. They are not a
Playoff team. I favored the Panthers to start. I liked Edmonton as well. I did not thin Edmonton had defense. I have always discounted the stars. They struggled against my stl blues this year. Blues were not competitive. How Dallas made it that far is beyond me. I thought Colorado |

So he turned down more money from the Leafs last time he was UFA but this time will be different how? - TurdFergeson
He’s using this rumour as leverage for a new contract in Tampa. All class. I’m sure Marner will screw the Leafs the same way. $12.7 mil isn’t enough, gimme $12.725 or I walk. Reminds me of a song by Ren: Money part 3. |

The core three were no issue at all. Crosby and Letang were good value and Malkin was fair value. Karlsson, Rakell, Smith, Graves, and Carter weren't good cap hits, but they aren't the core three so my point stands. |
