Do they just want the naming rights? "Washington Cap Friendly" - tbreinold
Like most, I can't figure out exactly what Washington's angle is here. Maybe they just want to remove something that's an asset for the rest of the teams in the league. Maybe they want whoever owns/runs CF to be their internal cap guy. I have no clue. Doesn't seem like CF has any sort of actual proprietary software/IP that would revolutionize anything for a team |

I didn't get a chance to watch the first game, but I still think this one goes at least 6. But I wouldn't fall off my chair in shock if they won in 5 either, they're so good. Frankly, I don't care who wins. I love the Oilers and I would also love to see Okposo get a Cup with Florida. |

Yeah, I don't care who wins either way, but rooting for FL. I can't believe how they played that style basically from day 1 without significant injuries or just the whole team getting tired. Pretty freaking amazing |

It's that they can, for what probably amounts to a rounding error on their books, take a widely used tool by all teams front offices off the table so they can get even the tiniest of legs up for maybe one part of one offseason before each team gets up to speed and creates their own internal versions of it. Maybe they wanted to poach some of the people from the site to work for them too, who knows? But it's a temporary marginal benefit at best to the Capitals, a minor temporary detriment to 31 other teams, and a huge loss to us. |

There's just not a hole anywhere on that roster. They can roll any line/pairing and I'm not watching them going "uh oh, so-and-so is on the ice let's see what happens". They're built for playoff success and it's showing. |

It just baffles me that teams are so reliant on it. For the cost of, to steal your words, a rounding error I feel like teams could build an in-house version of CF for their own personal use. Relying on open-source data to run a professional sports franchise seems kind of irresponsible.
I would have thought that teams had a central access to that kind of information but now I'm assuming I thought wrong. |

Too bad JRR wasn't playing for the Rangers, he could find a hole anywhere....
For me. they aren't even an unlikable team, except for Lumberg and Rodrigues. Maurice is freaking hilarious. |

Florida is a great team that is built to win the cup. But the biggest thing the Rangers should take away from FLA's success this season is that if you take an extraordinary amount of penalties throughout the regular season you can actually be even more egregious with those roughing/interference type plays in the playoffs while getting called for almost none of it because.. for some reason |

That's just because he has the gloryhole locator app on his phone
Cousins seems to have cleaned up his act, but he was about as unlikeable as it got for me earlier this year. But yeah, for the most part they don't really have anyone that you absolute loathe anywhere on the roster. |

right but i'm more talking about the being a very good team in the regular season (which we are) whilst taking a ton of penalties so that once the playoffs roll around we get away with all of the bullpoop that Florida has been getting away with. It's like once you get that reputation the league's collective brain doesn't know how to handle it in the playoffs and just doesn't call it |

Edmonton did outshoot them like 33-16 or something close to that. Tonight should be interesting. If they can get one past Bob early could open the flood gates |

Yeah, to some extent, the playoffs definitely help a much more penalized team during the regular season. Doubt it would have helped much for the Rangers . My biggest take aways from the playoffs, especially against FL, Rangers were way to slow to make passes in their D zone, which prolonged FL's forecheck. Once the PP stopped working it was pretty much over. 5V5 scoring has to be better next year, exactly cause of that PP reason. |

Yeah, Oilers didn't play bad by any means. FL stopping their PP was impressive. Weren't the Oilers one of the top PP teams? |

Yup. If FL can shut that down like they did against us, gonna be a struggle for the Oilers. |

I had to be up by 5am, so I only watched the first 40 minutes of game 1, but I saw the Oilers biggest problem as the Nurse/Ceci pairing. They were getting caved in. |
