For me ---- hockey season is over. I will check the box scores and some highlights, but I won't be watching any Stanley Cup games.

I've got baseball, soccer and NFL training camp to look forward to. Go Yankees!

- TommyGTrain

New York Rangers record with those RW's since Buchnevich was traded: 157-69-23.

Eat. A. Dick.

Tom, if all you can see is the 6 wins they were short of the Cup, rather than the 65 that preceded them, maybe you should take a break for a while.
I've always defended your right to say what you want, but that doesn't mean it's necessary all the time. Try something new, we've all heard all these comments enough. They're getting stale.

Problem is Tony, its those last 6 that are the hardest to win but the most important.

Its just funny to see how many wingers Mika has gone thru, I couldnt believe it was that many. Wow

There is a reason Drury really wanted Eichel and would’ve signed him long term over zib

I don't disagree, Brukie. It's no joke that this is called the hardest trophy to win in sports.
I just think that you (not you) have to take it both ways (have at it, boys!). You don't get a free pass to point out all the negatives while willfully ignoring the good. Not in my book, anyway.
Yes, this team fell short. It sucks. But, they are a long way from being a poorly run team. Flaws? Yes. Wrong choices? For sure. But, also yesses to top tier talent, strong coaching staff, solid prospect pool, reasonable depth (but, not the best) and many other aspects that a perennial playoff team needs to have.
I will always support healthy debate, but non-stop, irrational whining for the sake of making noise is not tolerable.

Also, I would rather the team I cheer for runs things in a way that keeps it rejuvenating and stays in the playoffs year after year, where a hot run at the right time could be the needed X factor, over a team that sells it all to win the Cup once and then misses the playoffs for years after that.

Well said. And I wholeheartedly agree to not continuously point out the negatives (whether real or not) while not acknowledging the good. At the same time though, the reverse is true, shouldn’t never address the negatives and only think everything is positive (whether real or not). Which is why I love Jan as an unbiased blogger who tells it as it is. And there are lots of people here (at least I think) that are on the same page.

So you want me to accept losing. Tried that and people still got upset. Oh well...

Do Panarin and Zibanejad need more help to ease offensive load? Or is it on them to find better ways to score in the playoffs?

Drury: "I think it's a little bit of both."

As far as becoming "a heavier, more physical team," he mentioned having good internal candidates.

- nyrangers2

Heavier, more physical. Thank you. I’ve been beating this drum for years.

No. I want you to expand your views to the point where your comments here aren't rubber-stamped negativity.
We know your view on these matters. It doesn't need to be the crux of every single post.

We weren’t ready to face Florida imo. The things we need to beat them aren’t necessarily ready yet, too ripe still

I’m curious what roobreock will be. He had some crazy junior numbers and he’s gigantic too

I give you credit, you may have had the answers all along. Minus the violence part

Yeah, it could be that we have a bias, here. But, that seems to have merit!

By biased, I meant that those of us who would prefer an in-house solution might expect too much from those lines. But (and this is the merit I see), Laffy seems to be becoming a driver of play. If he continues his growth, him on a line with the bff's could be one of the best around. Also, Panarin and Trocheck have enough chemistry and swagger to hopefully help Kakko make his balls drop and start playing like he deserves what he's been given.

I still kind of believe Chytil had vertigo. Because that sticks with people a long time. I’m not a doctor lol but seems something like that was the symptom of all the time he missed. They were so quiet about it all so who knows
- Slimtj100

I played in a band with a guy who developed vertigo (also a good band from the 90's you should check out), would explain him falling down. Took him a good few months to get back to normal.

Last paragraph, we were clearly more than one TDL piece away from winning the Cup. Yes there are obvious holes that need to be filled (have at it, boys!), but we're still in the mix. Hell, ECF is nothing to sneeze at. Expect SCF next season.

We need a bigger defense most importantly. Lindgren is a warrior and I’ve never said a bad thing about him, but he’s small. 6’0 190 isn’t big enough come playoff time when your partner is a small finesse player on top of that.

Schneider and Miller have the size, and we saw flashes of physical play from them (that’s when I think they played their best) but they need to be more consistent with it. I think Stanley and Zadorov would be huge additions (or 2 players with similar size that play physical, Dillon?)

Also think we need to add some size/physicality in the top 6. Obviously Brady Tkachuk is a pipe dream, but just some guys that don’t roll over and get pushed around (kinda like Trocheck). Trocheck isn’t a huge player, but he’s physical and isn’t backing down from guys. That’s how you build “team toughness” throughout the lineup. Knowing guys on your team are willing/able to step up for you gives you that much more confidence to do your job.

Say what u want, but Zib for PLD is a move that gets us going in the right direction. Idc (I’m not worried) about him having attitude problems etc, he’s coming to a veteran team and will be reunited with Panarin, not playing on the 4th line behind Byfield Kopitar and Denault.

Panarin PLD Cuylle (2 physical players that can help Panarin gain some space out there)

Kreider Trocheck Laf (3 guys that can play physical)

3rd line is going to need some work IMO go “get it right”

Othmann Chytil Kakko could be ok, but I think they need a little more of an edge somewhere.

Edstrom Goodrow Rempe

Zadorov 6’6 Fox
Miller 6’5 Schneider 6’3
Stanley 6’7 Trouba 6’3

That’s a defense that wins you playoff games.

I know I’m in the minority but I couldn’t trade Zib. Unless it blows my doors off with an offer. He had a bad year and majority are ready to give up on him after one bad/off season. It’s gotten silly. Jmo

What bothers me is how quick people forget what players do in previous years, he seems to be the whipping boy/poster child for that. Last I checked penalty killing is key for success and he just might be the best PK forward in the NHL. 5 on 5 blah blah blah…get him a god damn RW with skill to match his and he’ll score more
