I’m pretty sure every team uses this because it’s just the best tool out there. The other teams will just pay people to make their own version for them and get to use it anyway while fans lose it entirely

I could be wrong but I don’t think the motivation is keeping it from the fans. CF gives licenses to the teams to use their interface. So by doing this, those licenses are terminated and now Caps have sole possession and no other teams are allowed to use it. Still a terrible thing and will sign the petition.

It's such a shame too. I remember I think capGeek was the first one I remember back in like ~2008 and it was perfect. And then they're like "we're shutting it down" and CapFriendly got to a great place too. But it's a shame, these free to use tools/services that end up in the wrong hands OR that the people who made it don't want to keep maintaining it because it gets expensive to run.

CapGeek shut down because the guy that owned/ran it was dying, and ultimately passed, from colon cancer.

The news about CapFriendly does suck but I am assuming that another one will spring up in its place eventually.

I'm annoyed too, not saying anyone shouldn't be. PuckPedia is a solid alternative though. I think SportTrac has some functionality but I've never used it.

AH i forgot about the guy from capgeek, good call. Wish he had, had a team that could of taken it on, BUT to peoples credit it seems like these are just passion projects for certain individuals. They making no money for great content that we can all use.
