Could be, and 4.28mill Cap space to sign Byram. Someone posted that we have like the 4th highest paid D core. If true that's kinda sh!tty when you still don't know what you have or where they fit. - Buff36
2 #1's is an interesting experiment. Can you win without an elite forward?

Samuelsson has drawn interest from several teams
According to multiple sources, TFP has learned several teams have poked around on the potential availability of defencemen Mattias Samuelsson.
Samuelsson, 24, is going to enter the second year of a seven-year, $30 million contract and comes with a healthy salary cap hit of just over $4.285 million per season.
While teams have inquired, Adams has told them he is not interest in parting with the young blueliner. - kingcong39

That’s interesting, 4th highest paid defense
I’d say on paper, this is best Sabres defensive squad ever.
Of course power needs to play to his draft position |

Where and who fits together, lot of money spent not knowing who fits with who. On Paper Dahlin and Power might be the only 2 you can count on. |

Gonna be interesting to see what Adams can actually do this off-season! I mean he's made it such a attractive Destination for Top FA - Buff36
This mess is completely of his making.
Figure it out, or get fired...sorry, not sorry. |

I’d like to think :
Byram is a competent 3/4
Clifton is a #6
Samuelson is a bottom pair
Ry Jo is a nhl defenseman
We could use that 3/4 guy Lun’s been looking for |

I think Johnson has a ticket to Roch to start the season. Not a big fan of how they have handled him, and I don't think he is either. A trade wouldn't be a complete shock.

It's interesting.
Last season the stated need was for a Top 4 D to round out Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson.
Kevyn acquired a younger Dman that has Top 4 potential, and looked the part his first 3 games...until Wilford got a hold of him and turned him into a 3rd Pairing guy.
They got the guys, what they don't have so far is a D Coach who has proven to elevate the play of existing players.
I don't want to waste more assets on D. They have enough talent that with a good Coach and system can elevate their game to above average to pretty, pretty good status.
IMO, of course. |

Want Dahlin, Power, Byram, Joker, Samuelsson, Clifton, and Bryson all back?

In fact, Lindy's biggest need is to get that group playing well, protecting the net front, keeping shots to the outside, eliminate HDC's ... all to lighten the load on UPL and Levi so they grow confidence and play with it.
O is for entertainment
D is for championships.
That said, fugure out the Bottom Six Adams you friggin moronic idiot. Overpay to get the right guys. Your top 6 is fine for now. |

Yes. St. Louis won without an elite forward. I've always been a ROR guy but even at his peak he was Bergeron lite. Tarasenko was flawed and beyond that there was... Brayden Schenn I guess.
Can Dahlin be an elite, game changing #1 d man? That's what they need for this build to work |

Nope
Power Dahlin
Bryum Samuelsson
Johnson Cliffy is just fine with a good Coach.
Bryson is 7th D
Joker is traid bait in a package
They can tweak it at TDL, and fire Wilford.
At some point, we have to admit it isn't always the players...especially watching Eichel and ROR win, with Sam, Montour and Production ready to perhaps join the club. |

There's definitely talent there, my concern is who matches with who. They haven't found that pairing that just clicks. Could be coaching or just the same play styles. |

Are they the model, or a team that went on magical run?

One center injury for a month and they're cooked |

More toward the latter, but it's absolutely possible if Dahlin and Power live up to their billings. You should be able to have 40 minutes of elite defensive presence |

Gonna get laughed at, but I think Ryan Johnson could be the best partner for Dahlin of the group. His skating will allow Dahlin to just Flow and Go. Johnson’s break out passes could unleash Dahlin |

Still one of the strangest Cup winning teams. They actually got outscored in the Final. |
