So they didn't have to reprimand anybody.

The NHL has control over all video footage? Did they pay off whoever filmed it?
It was weird how it wasn’t available.

Maybe take the hit with your own shoulder instead of your fist?

You know like they do in hockey not boxing.

- DirtyDan

I mean he did. He leveled him with the shoulder and punched him in the face at the same time

Suspend both actions whatever. Barkov shutting down McDavid and the oilers are in deep trouble so draisaitl took his opportunity

You're telling me this was filmed by a fan? Who brings a frankin professional camera to a hockey game other than the broadcasters/league?

He doesnt touch him with his shoulder... he suckers an unsuspecting player who looks like he goes unconscious... You wanna complain about Drais who doesnt take Barkov out of the next game but then defend the one where a player legitimately gets hurt...

Yes he charged. There was no intent to hit him in the head. Nothing led up to it. Its what 2-1 at the time? in the 3rd? Why in the world would Leon(who has no history) do that?
- DirtyDan

Omg he elbowed him directly on the jaw when barkov was in a vulnerable position and left his feet to do it

Nah no intent

Because he was frustrated and pissy because they couldn’t get anything going, for the 4th period in a row. It looked like there was some intent, he sprung upwards towards his head leading with his forearm. On to game 3 now.

Im sure he didn't have to leave his feet. He wanted to hit him hard for sure. The elbow catches him. He doesn't lead with his elbow into his head.. This happens a lot when a bigger player hits a smaller player.

That’s what I’m saying, too. The NHL can tell the tv networks in two countries not to show something?

Loads up and pushes through with his forearms (like many hits right or wrong).

No intent whatsoever to hit him in the head. You can see in the back angle Barkovs head is down making a play and Leons elbow catches him. Its a changing call but not a suspension as the head-contact was accidental.

Marchand was having his shoulder looked at afterwards. He played for two more periods afterwards, and only left after he threw another big hit and ended up smacking heads with the guy he hit.

Probably because he was visibly getting frustrated by the suffocating defense in the SC Finals and about to go down 2-0. When you’re used to scoring at will and are getting stone walled by the goalie and the defense is on you all game, you tend to get frustrated and do uncharacteristic things, like clear head hunting. He’s not the first to do this, nor will be the last.

I’ve read a few of your reply’s. If it’s a charging call like you say, and an “accidental” hit on the head like you say, it’s still subject to suspension. You are to be in control at all times of where you or your stick go. Head contact in the act of hitting someone is 100% subject to suspension.

As they should, cowardly to punch a guy(with the butt end of your stick in your hand) going in for a hit. How many games did he get?
- DirtyDan

Marchand messed with the bull and got the horns.

Boo hoo, (frank) him.

'Head hunting"

Well he just came of back to back 60 pt seasons, and the trade comes with a fake extension. So I really don't think it's out of the ballpark
- Buff36

It may not be out of the ballpark, just more than we should pay. If he's playing center he's likely our 3C for most of that contract. IMO, trading those types of assets for a 3C who's about to hit 30 and trending down, is bad biz.

2021- 73games 76pts
2022- 63games 67pts
2023- 80 games 63pts

He's likely a 50 pt player here at best and could fall off a cliff at any time. Only way I take that deal is he agrees to a pretty big discount so it's better for us moving forward financially, which is unlikely.

IMO that 3rd line gets slaughtered. Which has been the case for years now with the team. The 4th line is an odd mix, not really sure what to expect there.

Even 4 moves, which those are pretty good, is a lot to ask from Adams.

JJP Tage Kane
Skinner Duchene Tuch
Benson Cozens Quinn
Joshua Anadio Greenway

Power Dahlin
Bryrum Samuelsson
Johnson Cliffy

Let's face it... Skinner has a very low probability of leaving. So try to maximize his production.

Don't think it's reality that you can be a GM and stick to only paying what you feel is fair for every deal that could be made.

There are times an overpayment would need to happen.

If you only want to overpay for superstars, the unemployment line will be coming rapidly for you as a GM.

- kingcong39

I think Carolina, Avs, Vegas and others have done exactly that. I guess I'm the polar opposite as I see teams that WIN trades succeed. Hockey trades are just that, a swapping of assets that can help tweak, not take one over the top.

I'd rather add to that package and get a true superstar than give that type of change up for a middle 6er.

Yes boo-hoo is right , Barkov is playing next game why are people crying about this hit but didn't complain about the one 2 rounds ago?

He (frank)ing jumped man, literally jumped. I’m not saying they get all, or even that they should. How anyone could argue it wasn’t dirty is beyond me, especially considering how important Barkov is, and Leon knowing this.

He wouldn't be playing C, he would be playing W in out top 6. And how is he a 50pt player here, when he probably plays with Quinn and Cozens

And Leon himself is important.. Why would he take himself out as well? As would be expected if your going to intentionally injure another (star) player? They're down 1 in the 3rd period.. If ya'll really think he intentionally tried to take of Barkovs head why does he go through his chest? Its only cause Barkovs head is down (yes making a play) that his elbow catches him.

How anyone can argue the Bennet punch is beyond me.. But they do

Hate to say it but disagree with just about all of this. If he was acquired it would be to play C IMO, we have a glutton of wingers and no 3C. But even with Quinn and Cozens, it isn't like he's upgrading from Kyrou and Saad...so his current trajectory, which is downward, will continue through that contract most likely. An extension for him is going to cost quite a bit despite this, so again, I wouldn't give up any 1st round pick for him, no less another one that's developed well. My initial offer to them would be something around a 2nd, Neuchev and Novikov. I'd swap for Kulich if they really pushed because I think he's a decent player, but at mention of a 1st, I'm shopping elsewhere.

… because he’s being frustrated for about 6 periods straight, by none other than… Barkov. It’s weird how frustration pulls one out of rational thinking and normal character. Subban and Messier, post game, both called it dirty. Left feet, connected with his jaw same time as body (Barkov being bent over is irrelevant, you have to control you).

I haven’t defended Bennett, was dirty too. What’s that got to do with Leon hitting dirty and getting away with it other than deflecting?
