… because he’s being frustrated for about 6 periods straight, by none other than… Barkov. It’s weird how frustration pulls one out of rational thinking and normal character. Subban and Messier, post game, both called it dirty. Left feet, connected with his jaw same time as body (Barkov being bent over is irrelevant, you have to control you).

I haven’t defended Bennett, was dirty too. What’s that got to do with Leon hitting dirty and getting away with it other than deflecting?

- SDSabre

It has to do with the fact it wasn't a suspension then.. and that was CLEARLY intentional.

This one is not clear that he had any intention of hitting Barkov in the head, it was in-direct IMO. And for people to call it a suspension without looking at how they've called other incidents in the playoffs is bias/foolish.

I think the point is the Panthers have gotten away with much worse. If that's the case, then Leon's shouldn't be punished either. Right?

Im sure he didn't have to leave his feet. He wanted to hit him hard for sure. The elbow catches him. He doesn't lead with his elbow into his head.. This happens a lot when a bigger player hits a smaller player.

Hate to say it but disagree with just about all of this. If he was acquired it would be to play C IMO, we have a glutton of wingers and no 3C. But even with Quinn and Cozens, it isn't like he's upgrading from Kyrou and Saad...so his current trajectory, which is downward, will continue through that contract most likely. An extension for him is going to cost quite a bit despite this, so again, I wouldn't give up any 1st round pick for him, no less another one that's developed well. My initial offer to them would be something around a 2nd, Neuchev and Novikov. I'd swap for Kulich if they really pushed because I think he's a decent player, but at mention of a 1st, I'm shopping elsewhere.

Hes not and never been a center(in the NHL)... He'd be a winger here and every where else he went.

Yeah I personally think both were very intentional, Bennett being Marchand was trying to run him and Bennett just being “bigger” (you’ve used this one, which holds exactly zero water by the way) and Leon being disgruntled by being abused all series by Barkov so tried to hurt him. Yes jumping and making contact with his head is intentional. You’re not going to change anyone’s mind. You’re argument on neither being suspended because Bennett wasn’t is fair enough.

That’s his argument, and holds some water. My argument is both are dirty and intentional.

No mention of the fly by punch to the head from Evander on Tkachuk though….

O if I wanted to defend it, this is how I’d do it.

Bennett was bracing for a hit, after just moving the puck, and was swinging his arms to protect himself. When Marchand hit him, it accelerated his arms and it wrapped around and incidentally hit Marchand’s head, because he’s bigger. If they were the same size, Bennett would have “punched” his shoulder/chest area in the act of bracing himself, and no issue. Accidents happen, and he didn’t mean to hit him in the head, it just happened (you’ve used this for Leon, as if it matters).

Or both are dirty and suspension worthy, whether the joke of the PSD actually does it or not

No way hes a 50pt player here. I agree with you.

Cozens is equal to Kyrou IMO. Kyrou has had the better linemates his career and Cozens almost put up 70 with 2 rookies.

Quinn over Saad. Talent wise obviously. If he stays healthy hes the better top 6 player.

Easily puts up the same #'s if not more here. IMO.

Sorry but this isn't factual. He was centering Saad and Kyrou last year.

Except he punches him before the hit connects.

There is no defending that play other than "the video wasn't available at the time"

For sure, he’s tougher than that. But the Panthers are clearly in the Oilers kitchen, and don’t plan on leaving.

Yes you were pretending I know. Except there is no defense to that scenario.

I can sit here and tell you with 200% factual proof the Bennet incident was intentional.

Nobody can say that Leon intentionally went for Barkov's head with 100% certainty. Its not clear as he goes through the chest and hits Barkov while hes bent over.

And draisait left his feet and led with his elbow made first contact with barkovs head. Admitting himself that he "caught him in an unfortunate spot"

You know, the spot he saw charged and left his feet to get him in

And there really isn’t for Leon’s either is my point. Pretty clearly dirty. Not many defenders of his hit, both here and for the professional broadcast ranks.
