is asking for a 3rd line center, middle 6 winger and a middle pair d man, asking for too much?
- homiedclown

Yes. He'll add a 3/4 C and fill out the 4th line, he has no choice. Any more is optional. Be happy if you get one other move.

KA has made comments like this every year:

"Adams says that the first wave of core players have been locked in, but the next wave are coming as well (UPL, Levi, Byram, Quinn, Peterka)."

I'm more worried that he's not going to make moves because he over-values everyone he has.

- Lunaion

That should be the number one concern until he shows he's no longer riskaverse and winning matters more than tracking how happy everyone is.

Buchnevich is a winger, not a center.

You spent a lot of time dropping his production based on a hypothetical that is not true.

I'd be shocked if they do more then add a 4th line Center and one more 4th line or 13th forward, along with a 7th defenseman.

He'd of played either way i think, hes a tough cookie

As long as he cleared the concussion tests, which not passing would’ve taken the decision out of his hands, I agree.

Edit; I realize you are using Bennett/Marchand as a comparable to things going unpunished, But the only way the scenarios would be comparable is if Draisaitl would’ve ran face first into Barkov raising an elbow.
Marchand tried to blow Bennett up and it went wrong for him, he arrived just late enough to give Bennett time to defend himself after moving the puck.

Don't expect Bryson? I think it will be his first off-season move.

With you on the rest.

I think going a year early on any of these guys would be crazy.

I'm braced for him caving an giving UPL term. Needless risk, if he does.

I'm holding out hope that his comment about being open to a long term contract with UPL was just public speaking bullpoop.

Think it takes a lot more to get him to Buffalo.

Toronto gets those kind of value deals. Wouldn't use that as the basis here.

I'd bet he's been looking for term, but just couldn't find it last year.

Their agents hearing Adams say this:

Adams does over-value everyone in the organization.

Think they will have to trade up if they want to draft Iginla.
- kingcong39

I'm not so sure. Defensemen are valued more than wingers in this league. There's a lot of good ones on the board, and a good handful of centers. He doesn't have the elite skill that the earlier forwards have. They have all the chance in the world to draft him.

With 206 faceoffs? That seems like he came in when his centerman got kicked??
- DirtyDan

I believe Saad was taking some draws on his offside. These were last lines of the year as well:

Moves will happen before the draft. I bet he wants to figure out Bryson before QO's. If Bryson gets a 1 year, 1.9 QO, he should just sign it.

Maybe KA really doesn't care about overpaying guys, as long as it's just 1 year, but I think money is a lot tighter this year and he doesn't want to pay a 7D that much.

Winning trades is not remotely the only way to succeed.

Which true superstars are even available?

None feels like the correct answer.

You sound a bit like Adams with wanting to use coupons to buy players that are already on sale.

You're going to continue to get garbage with that approach.

- kingcong39

It's not the only way, but IMO, having a team full of middle 6ers isn't either. I'm not on the phones, so I can't say all the names, but I'll say if it's the Blues I'm asking about Robert Thomas for that type of change.

But just for sake of argument, quite a few names have been bounced around recently: Barzal, Kadri, Hagel, Necas, Ehlers, with Guentzel, Marchessault and Reinhart set to hit FA. There are players available that are better than Butchy, with all these picks/prospects, why not go get one of them instead of a declining 2nd liner?

I can confidently tell you that he is significantly more inclined to add than in years past.

He's talked about it numerous times. I'm telling you, you can read him like a book.

He will add and it will be bottom half of the roster and an attempt at a top 6 option. He'll probably do it.

This has been his 5 year plan. No one likes it, but he broadcasted it to the world every single offseason. He told you exactly what he was going to do, and he did exactly what he said he was going to do.

You don't have to like it, but you don't have to worry about him going against his words.

Always has the potential too.

Can't live in constant fear of having to pay someone after they have truly earned it.
