I believe Saad was taking some draws on his offside. These were last lines of the year as well:

Did they use him as a centreman just didn't take many draws or is any good at them? I still agree with 36, if we were to obtain him hes a winger here. Which is where hes been most of his career.

I just don't see it tbh. With Benson, Tuch, Skinner, Quinn and Peterka already here, where does he play? Conversely, who is our 3C then? Okay with Krebs or a rookie there?

Edit:

This would probably be the outcome if he doesn't play center:

Peterka Tage Tuch
Buch Cozens Quinn
Skinner Krebs/FA Benson
Greenway Stank Stunk

IMO, that's not a big upgrade. I need a 3C to push Krebs down and we probably need to feed Skinner top line minutes to keep him relevant if we aren't biting that particular bullet. It's not a bad top6 with him, but doesn't this look more doable:

Peterka Tage Tuch
Benny Cozens Quinn
Skinner Butchy Greenway
Stank Krebs Stunk

I can confidently tell you that he is significantly more inclined to add than in years past.

He's talked about it numerous times. I'm telling you, you can read him like a book.

He will add and it will be bottom half of the roster and an attempt at a top 6 option. He'll probably do it.

This has been his 5 year plan. No one likes it, but he broadcasted it to the world every single offseason. He told you exactly what he was going to do, and he did exactly what he said he was going to do.

You don't have to like it, but you don't have to worry about him going against his words.

“I know that there’s some reports out there that we’re shopping him – that could not be further from the truth,” Adams said, “that is just flat out not true.”

Another gem:

“When it comes to our core players, I am not interested in moving guys out for future type of deals,” the Sabres GM offered. “If there’s a deal that we believe makes our team better today and into the future – meaning we’re not compromising short term – then I have to be open to that.”

What's wrong with having 2 of any of the names you brought up on the 3rd line, with a real, quality 3rd line center that they'd have to bring in?

They can only make one move this offseason?

I know emotions are going to create your sh1tposting, but "shopping" (actively trying to get rid of someone) and "listening" (can trading this guy make us better) are significantly different.

Casey was traded for the defenseman that this org valued more to upgrade, AND he was traded to change the dynamic along the center spine.

But you know that already.

I think a line of Benson, Krebs and Skinner will get slaughtered tbh. You can replace Krebs with a quality 3C and I still think that's the case. Skinner is a pretty big load to carry.

***And I don't like the idea of Tuch, Peterka or Quinn being a 3rd liner long term, which is kind of what happens if we sign Buchnevich to an extension. We need a stop gap 2nd liner. Think I'd rather have Kane for free tbh.

Adams has been looking for that defenseman for years now, his words. The deal didn't fall into his lap, spin it how you'd like.

Senators again looking to trade out their 1st round pick (7th)

So they lost their 22 1st for nothing, their 23 1st for nothing and going to trade their 24 1st for what I assume will be nothing again. And they forfeit their 25 or 26.

And they still blow.

Joe Sakic comes calling as he is looking for a 2C upgrade from RyJo.

Adams, while not actively shopping Mittelstadt, listens as he is presented with an opportunity to make a hockey trade to acquire a d-man with potential.

Mitts is eventually traded for Byram and not for futures.

Where is the lie ?

Think it takes a lot more to get him to Buffalo.

Toronto gets those kind of value deals. Wouldn't use that as the basis here.

I'd bet he's been looking for term, but just couldn't find it last year.

- Lunaion

Domi has jumped around quite a bit in the NHL

Probably happy for something more long term imo

Last night Adams answered the upl question, with long or short term would be great . Then he said even in between would work.

My guess is short term, I imagine upl would want something long term , last year could be a fluke

Hey man, their GM is active though and blowing your assets is apparently better then being patient, or so I’ve been told

Moves will happen before the draft. I bet he wants to figure out Bryson before QO's. If Bryson gets a 1 year, 1.9 QO, he should just sign it.

Maybe KA really doesn't care about overpaying guys, as long as it's just 1 year, but I think money is a lot tighter this year and he doesn't want to pay a 7D that much.

- Lunaion

You’re using way too much common sense (again)

I’d be fine with Bryson as a number 7 guy , definitely under 2 million per year

I see this as a the clash of 2 plans:

5 years. Savoie, Ostlund, Kulich, Rosen are all part of it. Don't block prospects.

4 years. Uh Oh, can't wait, gotta do something sooner to save my job. Can't go with so many kids.

This isn't me taking a side on asset management of 1st round picks and/or prospects.

What I am making a point of is that you have a team that isn't prepared to be shipping out future assets yet, shipping out future assets.

My lone hope is due to the fact, unless he's literally blind, he knows this is his absolute last shot. If he makes 1 or 2 moves only, he might as well print his own pink slip.

Disagree.

Gather your quantity, figure out who belongs long term, use the rest as developed assets. Believe it or not, the aforementioned are worth more than you think.
