Joe Sakic comes calling as he is looking for a 2C upgrade from RyJo.

Adams, while not actively shopping Mittelstadt, listens as he is presented with an opportunity to make a hockey trade to acquire a d-man with potential.

Mitts is eventually traded for Byram and not for futures.

Where is the lie ?

"This is a player I’ve been a fan of for a while now, and he’s really everything I look for in a defenseman," said Adams on Thursday during an appearance on "Schopp and the Bulldog" on WGR. "He’s a guy I felt could jump right into a Rasmus Dahlin pairing, and fortunately they are building chemistry and have played well together."

That's a real tough commitment given his history. Three years, 3.5-4.

You’re on your own in a few weeks.

God bless man.

I just think he's pretty transparent. I don't think he's that good at his job, and he was an absolute failure this past season. But he reeds like a book. You know exactly what he's going to do.

I see this as a the clash of 2 plans:

5 years. Savoie, Ostlund, Kulich, Rosen are all part of it. Don't block prospects.

4 years. Uh Oh, can't wait, gotta do something sooner to save my job. Can't go with so many kids.

Hiring Lindy buys Adams 2 more years imo

They will go down together or hopefully upward

"I would say it like this: If Zemgus Girgensons is not on your team, you are looking for a clone of Girgensons. If you have him and a contract makes sense, that's why you keep him," Adams said with Mike Schopp and Chris "Bulldog" Parker.

My lone hope is due to the fact, unless he's literally blind, he knows this is his absolute last shot. If he makes 1 or 2 moves only, he might as well print his own pink slip.

EF and Marek seem to think so. Gonna be 2020 all over again if they flail this year.

Domi has jumped around quite a bit in the NHL

Probably happy for something more long term imo

Last night Adams answered the upl question, with long or short term would be great . Then he said even in between would work.

My guess is short term, I imagine upl would want something long term , last year could be a fluke

- Boss34

No question UPL wants good #1 money long term. He hasn't earned that.

KA should want a 1 year. I don't think he'll fight for it.

Guess they can meet in the middle. 3 years @ around 4m. I won't hate it completely, just dislike it a bit.

Does Patrik Laine qualify as a good top 6 add?

He's a bit under ppg past 3 seasons.

And ?

Colorado made it known they had an interest in Mittelstadt and it consummated a deal.

Adams even said when he thought it would be a possibility they started scouting Colorado for the few weeks prior to the deadline.

Colorado also doesn’t pull the trigger if they don’t close on Sean Walker, which had happened a day or two prior to the trade.

In the event that did not happen, Casey is still here.

I don't expect them to have a terrible start again this season. It's Buffalo though, you can always imagine the worst case. If they are out of it my Christmas, it's ugly.

Kinda agree, not sure if I’ve seen enough to warrant a long term deal out of upl

Especially with the phenom looking over his shoulder

Lindy is safe for 2 seasons

KA has probably done everything terry has wanted of him. Winning isn’t really a priority. (Sadly)

I really think Adams is safe for at least 2 years , hot start or not. He’s like a son to terry

His upside is interesting, the odor of mendacity (thanks bald Georgia judge) in Sabreland though leads me to believe it's not the best place for him to rebound his career.
