it's annoying because sites like this generate so much more discuss and interest in the league from sports fans. It's a step backwards for the sport to lose the website. - breadbag
About as good of an idea as them having the hard cap, not allowing Olympic participation for a decade, and having the least behind the scenes dramatic content of the big four sports. Look at the growth of the the other three and even small sports that have passed the NHL, it’s pathetic. Bettman has punted for the owners every chance he gets, lining their pockets with expansion teams while multiple teams are on life support.
Only thing he did right was rigging the lottery for Chicago |

How far is the gap between Catton and Demidov? Is it mostly rooted in size? - Chunk
Believe me, Berkly Catton is a really good hockey centre. |

I assume you meant #2 to Anaheim, McTavish and #3 to Hawks? If there's not much difference between #2 and #3 on their board, is this enough compensation? His relative possession metrics look decent, but I'm sure they look beyond that for analytics. - 333inthe3rd

I agree, that team is relentless, responsible with the puck. Oilers had some good chances in game 1, but i think i saw on the web 1 high danger scoring chance last night, that's crazy |

No, McTavish has a chance to be a very good middle six two way player who brings toughness and grit but there’s a chance to get a star defenseman or a scoring forward with that second pick. I love McTavish’s game but a second overall pick is a bit steep. |

Apparently San Jose is looking to trade Mario Ferraro and the Blackhawks are one of the teams interested (per The Fourth Period).
I think he’d be a great addition, but if the rumoured asking price is true (1st + top prospect) then KD needs to walk away. I think SJ can get that, or close to it, but it doesn’t make sense for the Blackhawks. |

The only thing I know about Ferraro is that he has single handedly won me the Blocks category in Fantasy Hockey for years. |

I can't stomach the escrow and players helping make up any revenue short fall to the cap. Players are employees, not owners.

No, mctavish for the pick - LFS
I would also say no. Not many players in this league are worth giving up the second pick. It's an opportunity to draft a real difference maker.
Going back the last 25 years, this is what a second pick was:
1999 - Daniel Sedin
2000 - Heatley
2001 - Spezza
2002 - Kari Lehtonen
2003 - Eric Staal
2004 - Malkin
2005 - Bobby Ryan
2006 - Jordan Staal
2007 - JVR
2008 - Doughty
2009 - Hedman
2010 - Seguin
2011 - Landeskog
2012 - Ryan Murray
2013 - Barkov
2014 - Sam Reinhart
2015 - Eichel
2016 - Laine
2017 - Nolan Patrick
2018 - Andrei Svechnikov
2019 - Kakko
2020 - Byfield
2021 - Matthew Beniers
2022 - Simon Nemec
2023 - Leo Carlsson

Wiz: what would it take for Kyle from Chicago to get to the 10 or 11 spot? and who do you project Hawks to take if we somehow land that spot? - glennjpawlak22
I think he would have to give up what could be another potential top ten pick in 2025 and Kyl;e won't do that.
New Jersey will talk tarde got starting goalie.
All the teams know good players will be on the board at #11 and #12 so no one is getting the wool piulled over their eyes...
You simply don't know until the selections start; teams may trade out if their guy is off the board, but they all have spend months preparing their lists and they know their next guy.
So even though most drafts have little movement, it MIGHT COULD happen.
Teams love watching and see pick by pick if their list os being "ignored", leaving lots of the players on them their to pick through.
The reverse also happens when you guys are gone and you feel there is more value in trading out.
The hawks said their analyitics staff saw #18 and much more advantages for the Blackhawk prospect list and they think at #18 there are getting a good one. I have to agree that there could be a surprise left over by slot #18.
So, I don't see them aggressive enough to over pay to get down closer to 10-11, so hopefully the group will rein Kyle in from trading all his 2nd and 3rd rounders to do
so. Remember how last year no one would make a trade so they could insure they got Ollie Moore by offing #19 plus...and the more refusals Kyle got, the more he added more picks into his offers?
Unless they plan to sign a couple UFA stars, anybody think they will not be in the running for a top six pick again????
I do.
I just don't see one SECOND early first rd. true valentine there they want to over pay for. As much as there is lots of potential, and kids like Berkly Catton and Zayne Parekh and Konsta Helenius and Anton Silayev and Cole Eiserman might be terrific surprises better than where they get taken, it doesn't mean they aren't good prospects overall...someone has has to drop... |

Where's Steve from Glencoe?
Whatever the Bouch settle for in salary, he certainly didn't deserve Alex Vlasic money ($700,000 dollars more tonight...bouchard settled with a hometown discount to help keep the personnal adds and subtracts can continue before Mcdavid and Draisaitl are kaput.
It is the biggest game of Bouchard's career tonight and they need a win to make sure the "91% chance Panthers win the Cup with a second win," and s h i t s the bed. No once. Weak defensively i said - was that Friday?
Bouchard wuill never be a solid NHL defender.
- wiz1901
Bouchard has not played well in the series. Really nobody on Edmonton has played well. They are trying to do too much. Have to get more shots right away so Florida has to turn and chase in their zone. Overhandling the puck is letting Florida crowd the middle of the ice blocking shots and getting sticks in the lane.
The Finals aren't a series until a Home team looses so the biggest game of his career, and everyone in the Finals, is Thursday night.
As for never being a solid defender, that ship has sailed. He's plus in his career (very revealing directionally). Those pluses are even strength. His stats are amazing. His passing, last night excluded, is tape to tape. Not the most physical, but good stick and well positioned. He's 24. If you don't like him as a player, it may be time to work on a shuffle board prospect ranking.

I missed the game last night, and from reading here, I guess Bouchard did not have a good game. Looking at his TOI, he played about 31 minutes, so that’s interesting. |

Nurse got hurt in the first period, and only took one shift after, plus he probably played 7 of the final 10 minutes when the Oilers were trying to tie the game. |
