Laine in Chicago could actually make sense.
Could see Laine becoming a 40-50 goal scorer beside Bedard.
What the trade looks like would be interesting to say the least - optimus-reim
Two 3rd round picks to take the whole contract Columbus has no leverage in this since Laine asked for a trade out. Low risk high reward possibly plus for the exception of few teams can take that whole contract off of Columbus's hands without retaining money or adding assets to the trade. Then see what it would take to get necas from Carolina 18th overall pick 2025 2nd and d prospect Allen or Kaiser anything else is an overpay same with Laine. Like the idea of petroanglo from vegas makes sense.

I think Guentzel should be the target. But him agreeing to a 3 year contract seems like a pipe dream. He's probably looking for closer to double that term. - greenyone
Pass on Guentzel solid player but injury prone and looking to cash in on his last pay day and doesn't make sense for the rebuild at this time. If would agree to a 3 year 10 million a year ok fine but still would pass. |

2 years $4 mil. seems to be KD’s going rate. |

He's struggled in the Final. Just as Wiz pointed out. |

I don't get the fascination with Laine. Two years left at $8.7 million (his actual salary is $9.1M), He's six years removed from putting up big numbers and has been a malcontent at both of his NHL stops. That's the kind of character you want around Bedard, Nazar, Vlasic, KK, etc? Pass. Hard pass. |

Nope, Vlasic is overpaid and isn’t half the defenseman Bouchard is. |

Difference is Toronto already had Nylander, they didn't have to give up a first round pick and a prospect for him (rumoured Carolina asking price) If you are going to pay that price, I would think that you would have decided to make a long term commitment to sign him. Kind of a high price to pay for a 2 year rental. - LAHawk
Well technically if you sign him to a 1 year deal, let's say $10 mil, he can also sign the 2nd contract for let's say $6 to $7 mil per year for 8 years, but this all would have to happen whatever day FA starts.
When said and done, the Canes can ask for whatever but it's pretty clear Necas wants out of there so they'll have to be like Calgary and accept the best deal that comes their way.

The wheels have fallen off for the Oilers. They’re down 4-1 late in the 2nd. |

Holy hell. There's something to be said about defensemen who know how to break out a puck.
Have they said McDavid's name yet tonight? |

Carolina has Necas rights for 2 more years. Tksczuk was going into his walk year. The Canes can go to arbitration, and either accept the arbitrator’s decision, trade him or let him walk, not the same as the Tksczuk’s situation.
Isn’t Necas a malcontent? Either I get to play the minutes I want to play, or I want to go elsewhere? |

Yet 5 teams are interested in him? I would make my offer and just let it sit there and let the Canes decide if the best thing for their team is to force someone to stay there and play for them

The team is awesome they play so well together. Constantly supporting each other, Oilers look tired and frustrated. |
