I don’t know if we can trust Chytil to be healthy the full year. He could be, but would you bet on it? Think I’d rather try him at RW and get more center depth. |

Looks like Olaf Lindboms time with the NYR is done. That was a WTF draft pick at the time and turned out, everyone except the people that drafted him were right.
Karl Henriksson’s time with the Rangers could be over also. - nyrangers9479
I might need convincing to believe that Olaf wasn't the worst pick in the history of professional sports drafting. There is no facet of that decision that wasn't ridiculous. |

Henriksson signed overseas.
Two wasted picks unfortunately. But given all the great work Benoit has done, he gets a pass on Lindblom if he is he one that pushed for the signing |

As a Bulls and MJ fan, I say thank you very much. |

Draft just 11 days away
Free agency 14 days away
It’s nice we don’t have to wait 2 months to get the offseason going this year |

The player assessment has little to do with it, though. To draft a goaltender that literally no one was coveting at 39th overall is indefensible. I get that there really weren't any real diamond in the rough type picks in that draft, but that wasn't known at the time. To go ahead and use that pick on a guy ranked near 100 that no one else would have picked is criminally bad asset management. That could have been another player of need or a trade down for additional picks, or a depth signing or anything else and it would have been more useful to the organization.

Once the Stanley cup ends you figure trades start happening hopefully |

it's weird that that Islander-Blackhawk draft pick swap happened already

That was a weird trade. A lot of picks moved just to move a few spots in the draft. You figure that is more of a day of a draft trade once you see how the board is falling |

Despite finishing second to last, gotta be pretty exciting to be a Blackhawks fan right now. Bedard and now adding the #2 OA, won’t be long before they’re competitive again. |

they are kind of a clean slate with lots of draft picks and lots of cap space
I'm not a big fan of Seth Jones though and how much and how long he's signed for

My biggest problem with the pick was exactly what you said, could’ve had him 2 rounds later. |

Feel like GMs were making risky'er trades like ~15+ years ago then they do now too though no?

I think it’s the cap being so low for the last number of years. Teams don’t have cap room to make crazier trades anymore |

It is dumb how long it’s taking for it to rise significantly. The NHL looks ridiculous compared to the other major American sports leagues |

The whole escrow thing is crazy to me. I'm no economist and I'll admit there is a lot I don't know about it. But, it seems as if these owners want a guarantee of absolutely zero risk in their investment with huge upside. This seems unreasonable to me. |
