The whole escrow thing is crazy to me. I'm no economist and I'll admit there is a lot I don't know about it. But, it seems as if these owners want a guarantee of absolutely zero risk in their investment with huge upside. This seems unreasonable to me. - Tonybere
This is a pretty good, simple description. But you're pretty accurate about how that works. If the leagues makes it money, the players get back the money withheld in escrow. If they don't, that money (or part of it) goes to the league/owners. It guarantees that owners get their share of the 50/50 split on HRR. |

I thought it was a joke, but do the majority of Ranger fans think parting ways with Barclay Goodrow to be part of the solution?
Hilarious. You need more Barclay Goodrows to win cups.
Not a Ranger fan, so hope they subtract by subtraction.... |

Hey, Jabroni incapable of nuance, he makes too much money for what he does and we have limited ways of shedding cap space. You can replace him for way cheaper. Wanting to get rid of him doesn’t mean not wanting players like him. |

No to trading Miller. That's about all I can say on that... |

I’m a no on Miller for Necas. We already have to find a replacement for Gus (not a big deal) and im not sure signing Lindgren long term is a smart move. Only way im Ok with trading Miller is if our left side looks like this 👀👀

Lindgren long term would lead to terrible things...ala Dan Girardi. His next deal starts with a $4.4M qualifier and that will go up a bit with arbitration rights. He knows his body cannot take the NHL beating for much longer, so he is going to want to get paid on his next deal. Send him to the Caps to play with his brother and restock a few picks from it. |

Agreed. I also do not think hes the fit for #2D spot with fox. Need a more mobile bigger puck retriever there. |

I agree, but Fox will not...he just simply plays better with him on the blueline. I'll keep Lindgren if he takes a one or two year deal at $4.5M per. Any more $$$ or longer term he can go. I would not invest in more than a year or two at a time here. I love the guy's attitude and heart, but he's a mold of Girardi and Callahan mixed into one gutsy D-man. His body will break down before too much longer. |

I'm of the mindset just to let his contract run out, maybe he even becomes tradeable at some point
I think his buyout numbers are annoying beyond the 2024-25 season

I think so, as well. Rangers actually gain more than his cap hit with a buyout this season, but next year it will be as if he was on the team; then two more years at $1M each. Next offseason is the no-no year of having dead cap.
Keep him if you cannot trade him. Think moving Trouba is the best option to go here. |

The key will be the length of the deal. Three years, that works. Anything longer would be a mistake and I love Lindgren. Girardi was fine the first few years of his deal, the back end not so much |

I'd do 4 years for Lindgren, takes him up to age 30
honestly I'd be really surprised if Lindgren wasn't a Ranger next year

One other thing to consider is that if Trouba stays, Lindgren is gone. There simply is no room to have the same D-men with higher cap hits (Lindgren, Schneider) and have any cap space left to improve the team. Rangers have about $9M remaining...resigning Lindgren ($4.5M - $5M) and Schneider ($3M) will eat most of that up. NO RW1 upgrades available at $1M - $2M. Shedding Goodrow only gives you $3.6M. It's not enough. One of Trouba or Lindgren will need to go. |

The problem with Lindgren playing next to Fox is they are both relatively small and cannot clear the front of the net the way a bigger, stronger defenseman can. I'd be on board with bringing Lindgren back on the right deal (term and $) but think he is better suited playing with a stronger partner, which would be Trouba or Schneider. Unless Trouba is gone somehow, which isn't likely. Lots of moving pieces but we're limited on ways of opening up some cap space here.
Doing it completely in house should look like this in my humble opinion.
Miller Fox
Lindgren Schneider
Jones Trouba |

seems to be the only internal options i agree.
the amount of unnecessary pinches miller/fox will commit per game will make our heads explode lol

Any chance they get to trade regressing Miller for upgrade, they should take it.
Drury will never buyout Goodrow. And that is because of... reasons. - blacksheep1
one of "reasons" should be that the buyout numbers suck after 2024-25

I'm pretty sure that I've seen stats that say the opposite, that especially this year Lindgren severely brought down Fox's game. I admire Lindgren's heart and soul style of play but I hope they move on from him this year. He really isn't great defensively, is not very physical besides getting the crap kicked out of himself and brings no offense.
I think the Girardi comparison is a good one for the way his body will break down, but I don't think he's half the defenseman prime Girardi was. |

His dead cap hit would nearly wipe out the cap increase. No reason to do that. |

and the bad cap hits would happen when Shesterkin and Lafreniere have their new contracts
they could at least wait one more season before they buyout Goodrow |

I think he can be traded this offseason. He has a 15-team no trade list due in a few weeks...that becomes a 12-team list this time next year. |

Same goes for Jones, Miller, Kakko, Cuylle. A decision on the core will surely be made this time next season. |
