Don't think we see big moves, but we need to figure out how to get that 1st line going for next season. Hopefully one of the youngsters in the A can make the jump out of training camp. - mdw7413
It’s so hard to break up the Zib-CK connection, as well as the Troch-Laf-Panarin magic, but there can’t be any commitments next season. Put the lines in a blender until we have two lines (not just one) actually producing 5v5. |

I actually really like Pickles idea of throwing Laf on the top line and Kakko with Bread and Trocheck. Laf can help drive play for that line and playing with Panarin may help Kakko a ton. Worth a shot if no offseason moves are made

Saw a rumor, we trade Trouba to Detroit (with some retention) for Justin Holl and then buy Holl out. That buyout is 1.13 for 4 years |

I'm very distracted by the fact that there is a visitor in my office today that looks just like John Brancy! |

Rangers shouldnt have to retain in that deal

I get that he is not the fastest, but I do like a shoot first winger for that first line. I also don't understand the love for Domi. Maybe I haven't watched him enough, but he's played for 7 teams in 9 years, has scored over 20 goals ONCE in '18-'19, and eclipsed more than 50 points once in that same time frame. Is this really the person we want as our first line winger? I feel like he would drive us insane - NYR11
They just dont need a shoot first winger there. They need someone to carry the puck the neutral zone and forecheck for pucks. Zib is the shooter. kreider the net front. Domi was the leafs 1st or 2nd best player this PO

Trouba should be sent to the moon. I was right about him 3 years ago. I will defend that until I die

I was thinking the same thing. Detroit definitely one of the more logical places for Trouba to go to tho |

the question is, do the Rangers actually hate Trouba as much as a lot of fans do

I think it’s more of a skater that can keep up with them that they need. A better version of Roslovic. Zib and Krieder are fast skaters so anyone like Wheeler or Kakko for example lol couldn’t stay with them up and down the ice |

I disagree that the first line doesn't need a shoot first winger. Zib passes the puck ANY TIME he has an opportunity to. The guy never prefers to shoot on odd man rushes. Guys like Buchnevich and Vatrano paired well with CK and Zib, IMO, because they were shoot first wingers that opened up for Zib to get them the puck. Kreider doing the dirty work to make it happen

I dont hate that player. That contract is just horrific in a hard cap league. This is a business decision. Liability vs an asset. He is a liability under that current invesment. Needs to be moved off the team

Zib is a shoot first center. He is not a playmaking/play driving center. People get caught up bc Vatrano had a nice stretch with him. Buch was a better fit long term than vatrano was. buch isnt a shoot first winger either. He was just capable of doing both. |

I'm sorry but I don't see this. I see Zib as a playmaking center.
29 goals 52 assists in '21-'22
39 goals 52 assists in '22-'23
26 goals 46 assists last year
Those numbers don't depict a shoot first center. They depict a playmaking center who has the ability to score. I think a winger who puts the puck in the back of the net often would compliment 20 & 93 perfectly

Its not just about assists vs goals. That line has nobody that can drive play 5v5 through the neutral zone and offensive zone like tro, laf or panarin. They need someone who can do that

Hate is a strong word. Seems like a good person off the ice. I just dislike overpaying bad players in a hard cap league. Hard to win a cup with vastly overpaid players on a single team.

the reality is that they signed Trouba to that contract in 2019 when the cap was expected to be 100 million by now though
but whatever, they just need to figure out what best to do now |

Trouba was signed pre pandemic which has a lot to do with his salary being more problematic than it would normally be tho. It’s not something you can just ignore. |
