So, it didn't seem right when owner Terry Pegula opted to fire only Ruff last February, while Regier earned a stay of execution. The fact that Regier was signed to a contract extension prior to the start of last season made it difficult to justify firing him at the time, but the GM always seemed to be living on borrowed time following Ruff's dismissal.
The axe finally swung in Regier's direction when Pegula fired the club's longtime GM as well as head coach Ron Rolston after Buffalo's awful 4-15-1 start to the 2013-14 season. The owner informed Regier and Rolston they were being relieved of their duties on Tuesday night, and on Wednesday morning Pegula announced the news at a press conference.
Regier and Rolston losing their jobs is not a surprise, but Pegula did reveal some intriguing additions to the Sabres organization in the wake of the firings. The club introduced former Sabres great Pat LaFontaine as president of hockey operations and brought back Ted Nolan to serve as the club's head coach on an interim basis.

I don't have a problem with Joker. I am in agreement that they can't bring the whole band back, though.
I'd like to see a different type of defenseman back there. Dahlin is Dahlin, but where's our "Jay McKee" type of leader back there? Throw money at DeMelo or Pesce if they hit the market. Dillon would be a good get, too. |

this franchise has done nothing since botts was fired to be given the benefit of doubt
including the eichel chaos, and I was not a fan of eichel - homiedclown
im not giving anyone the benefit of the doubt. they've done jack poop for a decade.
in this instance, and he followed through by the way, he stated clearly and directly what he wanted, and he fulfilled it to a tee.
it's ok to be rational even if you dislike the guy.

how many scrubs do you see coming back
joker
bryson
"skinner"
that's 18 now
before bringing the rest of the band back
I am shocked, koolaid and tacos don't mix for the most part but you are doing a fine job serving it up lately - homiedclown
Joker isn't a scrub. He's an NHL defenseman. You want someone new, that's one thing. But the kid can play. We just have too much of "him" back there. |

I wouldn't want him at 8.5 per
6.5 per, sure
I think he gets it together with ovi though - homiedclown
100% if he had some retention. You think Ovi has that much left in the tank? I can see the PP production going back up but isn't he pretty low impact 5v5 at this point? |

Buffalo Sabres GM Kevyn Adams has 'no intention' of trading Jack Eichel
"I'm hoping I'm clarifying it for you, but that to me is an easy question, because we have no intention of doing that," Adams said during the half-hour pre-draft session with reporters on Monday. "I have zero concern on Jack wanting to be here. I've had great conversations with him, his representatives. I'm not really sure where that's coming from."

I mean this was an entire year before the trade so.. like this poop changes all the time.
Once that injury popped up, things took quite a turn.
Added context, we did have people like 89 saying 'if this doesn't work i want to be traded' referring to the taylor hall eric staal and ralph krueger adds. |

I don't think he has the balls to trade samuelsson and so the top 4, nothing will change and honestly we have seen nothing over the last few years other than hope and potential to show it's going to be a solid 2 way group going forward

He'll still pop em in from the top of the circle, no doubt. If behind the net was Gretzky's office, the top of that left dot is his. I just don't know if Dubois going from Fiala to Ovi on his wing is an upgrade or downgrade...kinda lean toward the latter. |

alrite, you have this band back obsession. Using the 15 players you listed, who are you trading and what kind of player are you getting in return - TheSabresTaco
does not matter what I say
it will get shot down saying I would not pay that much or we are giving too much back in the trade
this core still needs a shakeup and it's a lot more than just deep sixing skinner and assuming a 19 year old will get 95 goals in the next 3 years taking his place |

what's the motive for trading samuelsson? injuries? outside of that, he did his job pretty well.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe our top4, if that's what it is next season, have ever played a full game together? I thought Sammy was hurt the entire time Byram was here. Think we need to give them some time to see is all I mean.
Power Dahlin
Byram Sammy

well, that's the point of existing here. welcome if this is your first time.
you want a shakeup, that's fine, but the question was, who are you using for this shakeup within those 15 players?

he is not that bruiser
he is not that shut down guy
he is not that guy that clears the front of the net
he is just a guy that gets a lot of ice time when he is healthy and locked up long term for no reason other than failed potential |

Come on man, its comical at this point. Adams is a front man for Terry, this charade will continue as long as Adams does what he's told.
The front office remains an embarrassment to hockey. |

samuelsson
power
tage
cozens
not bringing back girgens
I think moving out a guy up front and a guy on the back end is not asking for much for a team that fails on a regular basis and effort is often in question for this core locked up long term
tage, maybe he was hurt
cozens, who the hell knows
power, does he get a pass because he is young?
samuelsson, always hurt
byram TBD
teams that just fall shy of winning the cup makes these changes and we take a step backwards and casey and meathead are going to be the fall guys?

It was Erik Jonhson's fault for revealing the team needs a sauna, killed the vibe by 2nd day of training camp.
