There's reports both Cernak and Jeannot are available - Buff36
I goofed - I thought we were talking about Tkachuk. that's what I get for grilling and posting at the same time.

He would be ideal, wouldn't he? I'd give up a second for him.

Don't know, 2nd and Neuchev. Maybe just a 2nd, but he still has 3 years left at 4mill so your buying a good contract to. |

At this point I'd rather insert Krebs into these kind of trades as I think Neuchev still has future promise in him. But if that is what it takes to get it done....

Cernak Jeannot
11A Samuelsson Krebs 2025 2nd 2024 4th - Buff36
Isn't this a huge overpay? Cernak is a very good stay-at-home D, and it would be nice to have him locked up with a very fair contract. But Jeannot is nothing to write home about and it has been speculated that he is a camp dump at this point.

I wonder if they would do something like that with Tuch in the hopes that they could get him on a team-friendly contract when his expires.

Samuelsson is there to offset the Cap a bit, very well could be a overpay. But Cernak would be a very good fit, and Jeannot didn't fit in Tampa, still was a decent player before that and brings intangibles that the Team could really use. We have a lot of prospects, not to worried about the picks. Probably take Krebs out, have a feeling he goes to Philly. |

They traded a 2nd for him a year ago and might be trying to free that cap space after the first season.
I'm hoping cap space still has real value this summer. Seems like it should.

But if they are moving Cernak for cap reasons, why would they want Samuelsson in return? There is only a million dollar savings, and Cernak is far and away the better player. I would think that they would want someone like Ryan Johnson instead.

They could, just more of a ready know guy. And if it's both players it's almost 4mill in savings |

Yup, if they need to save cap, the deal should save cap.

I guess, but if that was the case, why not just dump Jeanot and not lose your good defenseman? And it isn't necessarily 4 mill in savings as someone else (albeit cheaper) would need to take Jeannot's spot.

They very well could, article said it could be both or 1 or the other. |

Chad, lol...
If you want a “rumor” that I haven’t been able to 100% confirm since it’s fun season…I won’t be specific so I don’t get yelled at but id keep an eye on the Sabres and Caps over the next few weeks. |
