I don't know 17, 18, 19 year old's who aren't complete players? Not surprising really. I think it's more a matter of identifying their shortcomings and deciding if they're correctable. - Rota's Rooter
Sounds a lot like dating except swap "shortcomings" with quirks and "correctable" to what you're willing to live with. |

I know the consensus seems to be to keep the pick at 2 but I wouldn't hate it if they were able to do something like this with MTL. Just seems like after Celebrini everyone is coming with some question marks. - HawkintheD
I think the next 6-7 picks after Celebrini could go so many different ways. It's not like last year where the top 3 were know, although 2 & 3 were in reverse order to what most people expected.
I'll have to trust KD and his staff with this draft. If he goes with the expected Levshunov or Demidov I'll assume they've done their research and believe he's the best prospect available. The same applies if KD goes off the board and picks somebody like Iginla, D!ckinson, or Lindstrom (or someone else).
This draft has vibes of 2017, where picks 3, 4 and 5 were all better than 1 and 2. I don't think anyone will be better than Celebrini, but 4, 5 or 6 could be better than 2. I don't expect KD to move from #2OA, but I wouldn't be against it for the right return. |

I disagree, you choose a player and if KD selects someone else you declare him a bust. |

For the fun of it, I have been watching the entire playoff series from the 2010 Stanley Cup year. I have been watching to do an eye test on what the current team is lacking in comparison to the 2010 team. Minus the overall depth of that team, the 3 players that stand out the most for me are Seabrook's overall defensive game, Hossa for his 200 ft game, and Bolland for his pain-in-the a$$ style to play against.
So, who in this years draft would replicate those players. For me it is Levshunov to replicate Seabrook. Lindstrom's overall game could have been like Hossa, but the back issues scare me. And you don't take a Bollard with #2, you find those role players lower in the draft.
I personally think that the Hawks started to decline with Seabrook's decline in play. He was a jack of all trades, filled in on the offense when needed, solid all-around defenseman, could lay the lumber when needed, and was a true leader of the team (Toews vs the Wings in '13). I just think Levshunov has all these attributes. He might not be elite in one specific category, but checks all the boxes to make a solid first pairing defenseman, and if his character is as solid as some of the reports say, I think I lean toward him at #2.
All that said, I would be fine with the Hawks trading down a few picks and getting a prospect in the mix - too many solid d-men in that 2-7 range, to pass up on a solid offer. - spudrock512

They would have ruined Pronger too. Go watch the Documentary about Daigle on Amazon Prime. It sheds a lot of light on that whole situation. - GPHawksfan

Well we know that a lot of projecting how we prospects will turn out once they learn and or mature, even their confidance. Their bodies - most of them - fill out, they work out and gain strength the next few years.
So let me just point out one player whose skill and style really excites me - due primarily to wiz description over the phone: Yaremchuk
I see where in the real long post in this thread where something like 13 scouts and questionnaires are drawn upon, this is the 6th best of the dmen
You notice how some scouts predict the upside already fairly certain how a couple prospects turn out
Well Yaremchuk needs to be taught and apply how to play defense How well does he get it? He will be improving hopefully enough next junior season so that if there was a redraft, perhaps he isn’t 6th best dman prospect. You can take some of the acclaimed guys like Paredkt or Biuim first. Who can say Yaremchuk in time turns out the better prospect
Which is why you need good scouts and a thorough round table of scouts/staff before KD makes up his mind |

If Howe is at or near Chicago’s Best Available when they pick they may take him but I can’t see KD selecting him out of the Best Available order. |

With the second overall pick in the 2024 NHL entry draft the Chicago Blackhawks are proud to select….(pause for dramatic effect)… from the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL - Tig Iginla!
*KD drops the mic and walks off the stage* - DarthKane
I think Davidson throws a curve ball and takes silayev who believe, I might be wrong, can play both sides of defense. Big nasty very good skater for his size good offense needs to work on defensive side but that be taught. So for me he is the choice or Lindstrom if his medicals check out. |

Another small forward, I m not against it if it happens. Joshua and DeBrusk could be options also |

I’m against it. Bedard is bad enough but at least he can be hidden. We don’t need smurfs. |

Can you define what you mean by hidden? TT is small but he is extremely responsible defensively and is not a perimeter player. Not a big body and not physical but think he could compliment Bedard. But maybe I’m misunderstanding your view. |

Because the Hawks forwards are made up of not big bodies snd not physical. You need someone to win a board battle at least once in a while, even in the regular season. |
