Remember the show Sports Science? They actually did an episode that tested an athletes performance when abstaining and after spending the night with his girlfriend and the results were better after the night with his girlfriend then when abstaining. They weren’t significant improvements but it showed ladies don’t weaken the legs, haha. - Schmojo
I did not see that show. I had a coach in my younger days that lived by that motto. Turns out he was the bozo.

I love this line "Skinner is not the amazing forward he used to be. Let's be fair, however. It's not like the Sabres have surrounded him with talent ". So it makes perfect sense the Flyers should sign him right away, because after all, the Flyers have oddles of talent for him to play with
Honestly, I never, not once, thought Skinner was an amazing forward. Scott Cole needs to lay off the stuff. - jd250
Likewise, if the Flyers were to sign him, he might be cheaper than most of the top-line free agents. He could cost the team $6-$7 million. On a one to two-year deal, that could be worth it.
I hate these people so much. |

Granted I have not seen a great deal of D*ckinson, but from what I watched in the tourney recently, he was a disaster in his own end, and though he would join the rush and score a goal, I didn't see that from him consistently. If you are not going to play defense, at least be a consistent offensive threat when you are on the ice. To me Bonk was better than him in just about all aspects of the game. I like size and speed in a defenseman, I mean who wouldn't, but I also want to see grit and good decisions on the defensive side and he just didn't show me that in the games I watched. I think if a team takes him in the top 10 it would be a mistake, and better for the Flyers, because I don't see him as a top pairing defenseman. - jd250
I got to see a lot of him this year as I watched a bunch of London’s games because of Bonk and Barkey. There were a lot of nights where by he out preformed Bonk although Bonk rarely looked bad. He is also a year younger. To me he has a chance to be a top pairing guy from what I saw. |

If the Sabres wanted to trade Skinner and offer the Flyers multiple first round picks to take him I would be interested. Outside of that I do not want Jeff Skinner to be a Flyer.

I’ll say it before and I’ll say it again, the Flyers could have and should have been in on Matthew Tkachuk when he refused to sign with Calgary. We could have offered more than Florida did. I’m packing anyone of Farabee or Konency for that guy and this isn’t hindsight speaking. Jonathan Huberdeau is a nice player but he’s 29 at the time of the trade. - roenick97
29 and a better player. You also seem to forget they got a very good dman as well as a first rd pick.
One other small detail is he was only willing to sign with a few clubs. I know this is crazy talk, I would guess flyers were not on his list. |

Good to know, you obvsiouly have watched him more than I have. Can't wait for the draft. Bummer about Atkinson, was really hoping he would be open to a trade and San Jose might be the only team that would want him. The Flers just can't catch a break it seems. |

- he will not get 6-7 million per if bought out. even on a 2 year deal.
- he would have zero interest in the flyers.

Agreed. The homerun hitters get called cheaters. How many of the pitchers they faced were on the juice? SF Giants Barry Bonds was the second most entertaining athlete ever. Dude got intentionally walked with the bases loaded.

I’m not sure what you don’t like about D*ckenson? Fantastic skater, great size, great shot, high end decision making and all that before his 18th Birthday, which only came a week ago. - landros 2
Those same traits were present in Risto and Bogosian on draft day too. Along with the same absense of high end hockey sense.
As a collection of raw physical tools the kid trails only Silayev. He'll definitely play in the NHL because of that... now will he actually be a top-end guy? Or is he gonna get held back by that muscle between his ears?
I'd take Parekh over him just because Parekh has preternatural hockey sense and he's intelligent. I don't think you can be a #1 in this league without those two things anymore. |

Rickey henderson my favorite player. Him along with bo jackson, mike schmidt, carlton, greg maddox.

I agree. Most people do not care and they are not getting into the HOF anyway. Also the HOF is a sham without Bonds in it. They should just close it down.
Rickey Henderson was a master of his craft. Bo Jackson might be the best athlete of all time.

Newest full 7 round Athletic mock has Helenius going at 12 and Parehk going at 13.
Philadelphia Flyers
12. Konsta Helenius, C, Jukurit (FINLAND)
31. Sam O’Reilly, RW, London (OHL)
36. Linus Eriksson, C, Djurgarden (SWEDEN-2)
51. Cole Hutson, D, Usa U-18 (NTDP)
77. Henry Mews, D, Ottawa (OHL)
148. Frans Haara, D, Skelleftea Jr. (SWEDEN-JR.)
150. Matyas Melovsky, C, Baie-Comeau (QMJHL)
173. Marek Howell, D, Vancouver (WHL)
177. Thatcher Bernstein, G, Tri-City (USHL)
205. Miroslav Satan, C, Bratislava Jr. (SLOVAKIA-JR.)
I don't think Columbus is going to give up its 2nd round pick this year so this is probably way off. |

[quote=MJL]My form of online debate is not combative. It's common sense based and factual based. You're trying to state that the Flyers would face some sort of blow back or retribution if they waive and demote Atkinson the AHL. That they would be violating some sort of principle or code that would cost them somehow. There is no history of that. There is tons of history of players who were once good players, having their game of south and been sent to the AHL or bought out. There is no punitive damage from that.
